Sony exmor 800tvl troubles.

 I have one of these on my mini h and just occasionally it stops working! This doesn';t happen much and by the time i';ve walked over to recover my quad it is usually working again :huh
The view in the goggles just goes to a grey screen, which means they are still receiving the signal from the vtx(immersion), it can also happen now and then on power up, when it does, disconnecting the power and reconnecting gets it working. It is more an annoyance than anything else as obviously when the pic goes the only thing to do is kill the throttle and let the quad drop
The lead is fine, I have swapped it and it still occasionally happens. Anyone else experienced similar? I just wonder if these cams are just like that or if I have a lemon. I can';t try my other vtx, a fatshark 250mW) as this cam has never worked with it (I mention it as you get the grey screen continuously).
Any ideas?

lol, it';s done it since new. Infact when I first got it, it wouldn';t work with the fatshark 250 vtx but always has with the immersion one

I had a similar thing with my cam after a few knocks. Turned out I had broken a joint or two on the sensor under the lens. I only realised when I had it all powered up and applied pressure to the lens I would get a picture back but before it totally failed I would start to fly with a picture and it would eventually fail as the RPMs increased and take off occurred.

My cure was to run a hot iron over all the little legs that the sensor is attached to the board with.

 Thanks Steve, I';ll give that a go, can';t hurt. Might just order another one so I';m covered, can';t really afford it but can';t handle doing without me FPV fix........

Biff a suggested what I was going to suggest, also pay attention to the video connectors too.

The reason I asked was that if it was a fairly new cam with a lack of bumps the I would say request a replacement camera

It';s not that old but the trouble with asking for a replacement is that it has been used now and trimmed down to fit on the mini with the inner mounting holes. I';ll see if running an iron over the joints helps
I';ve ordered another one now anyhow , it will be interesting to see if it works with the fatshark vtx, something the current one never did.

If I ever get around to some fpv flying (my 250 is prepped but the weather have been awful for 2 weeks) I will consider either an exmore on my 450 (when they fix the 433MHz issue) or one of the starlight cameras
