This is probably a silly question but do you need the BEC, can you operate with just the NAZA FC & GPS?

Ash

Brian

I think you need it mate. Don';t know for sure though mate.

Ash

I think it may come with a kit but if you';re ordering individual parts I just want to see if its a must or optional.

Brian

Have you checked the DJI site or asked them the question through their site?

I think it';s powering the fc! You will need it.. :) and it';s in the kit always!

Thats what i know about it too.

The bec is there to give you a stable voltage supply to power any hardware that is voltage sensitive regardless of input voltagr j.e. it will give you the same output reardless of whether hou are using 2S, 3S, 4S etc; so I would expect you to be using it unless the boards you are powering have their own voltage regulation built in.

Smeagol

The VU also houses the diag led, this lets you know fault status, GPS sync etc.

Whats your reason for not wanting to use it

Ash

Hi Guys,

Thanks so much for the info, you';ve all been a great help. I';ve been putting a part list together for my f450, as I didn';t want to buy it in kit form, i didn';t know if this bit was required or optional.

The vu is in the naza kit.. Only option is the gps.. the naza kit includes: naza fc, m3 stickers, short servo wires for connecting rx, vu for voltage regulation, usb cable for setup.. :) you don';t need to buy gps unit now, and you can always add this later if you want :)

Balders

Without the VU you would not be able to configure the naza, as it houses the USB interface :)

No problems! Welcome to an awesome experience!!!

Welcome to the naza club, didn';t consider it at the start but glad I did in the end.

This will have been answered im sure, but to confirm, you do need the VU, it powers the unit but also has the USB  on it for updates and the light is very useful for orientation and low battery warnings, mode display, GPS status etc.
