Hi All,
I';ve just test flown my new hex, it';s a HK 650X6 Folding Frame, MT2213-935KV MultiStar Motors, 20 amp Afro ESC';s and all the rest is ex-Phantom.
So far it seems more responsive and steady in a gusty breese than the mutant sk450 I moved from, I';m very happy so far.

Next step is proper radio gear so I can ditch the DJI board and Rx. Any recommendations?

Naff pic time...

Cheers

Chris

Taranis!

If I had the dosh I';d get one now and get rid of my JR PCM9x2.

It';s the dogs nuts at a fraction if the price of its closest rival!

I have a Taranis and a Hitec Aurora 9. All I will say is the Taranis is sat on the self and the A9 comes out 2 or 3 times a week.

I';ve got a taranis and there good ... but you get what u pay for . Had mine for about 8 months and have already had to change the battery ( it was goosed) a front switch and now one of the trim switches is acting up.

but I love  the voice alerts and battery voltage warnings , the receivers give great range and are cheap + very light.

+1 for the A9, I';ve got an old dx7 and my A9 - both excellent tx';s but the A9 is by far the easiest to set up and get what you want!

Hands0n

I use a Taranis and not had any trouble with it ... so far.  I also have a Spektrum DX8 which is rather good, but not sure I';d recommend it over the Hitec Aurora 9X

Talking of which, the 9X seems to be a significant update to the 9.  Some cool info on the 9X here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-radios-transmitters-receivers-servos-gyros-157/8515737-new-hitec-aurora-9-channel-2-4ghz-radio-system-185.html#post11429138

Thanks for the links all, I will check everything out, in the mean time I want to have a bright flashing LED under each motor, I have googled and looked at loads of sites and can find flat ones, but I want to be able to see them from the side too, in daylight preferably.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for those?

Chris650

I went for the Frsky Taranis in the end. No doubt that will give me lots of questions to post when I am trying to set it up

No one got any links for the LEDs?

Thanks to all for the help anyway.

The Taranis will serve you well Chris.
When you get a mo, check out Dennis Baldwin on youtube, he seems to have done most stuff on the Taranis, and is easy to follow.

Cheers for the link FBW, the Taranis is in the post and I can';t wait to have a play.

Chris650

Well, the Hex has no more of the old Phantom workings except the Naza and the old LED, everything else is all new and sorted now. The Taranis I got from T9hobbysport is great, and I must say that Richard at T9 was very helpful.

I have the basic setup as per the net, all the modes work, failsafe etc.. Lots to learn about settings tho.

So, thanks to all for the info. I hope to meet a few of you at the next meet near High Wycombe.

Cheers

Chris

Dek

For LED';s I don';t think they come much better than Strobon http://flytron.com/12-light-systems. They';ve moved to the UK now too so fast delivery. They also do wide angle lenses for the LED';s too.

Have a look.

Don';t see a connection for Rx on the board Phil, would I need to run it through a switch to be able to turn on/off from the Tx?

That';s a brilliant price BTW so might be ordering a set for my 550 hex

I dont think there is a built in rc switch, but you could either have it on a manual switch or rig something up on the power side
