A nice find and a sign of the near future I';d say.  I can';t help but think that the commercialisation of licensed drones for more widespread civilian use will mandate the use of this kind of redundancy safety.  And I would also anticipate a requirement for collision detection and avoidance.   

The technology exists, it just requires the systems integration like this to bring it about.

I work I the control room offshore....  This is standard in all our SIL rated systems...

I know a couple of guys that have the knowhow or develop a system like this and one of them has an interest in RC  flying...  I might point him at this
