The BMPCC is now amazing value. I have one and it gives really good pictures.

Weird.  No one else selling cheap though.  Is the dealer known / trustworthy?

if you already have a suitable lens (micro Four Thirds), body-only is available here for £354

I saw this just a few hours ago, the dealer i spoke to lowered their website price at 5 last night and have sold 44 this morning.

What kind of footage are you getting , any example video you can share guys.

Really tempted to buy

A great piece of kit if you don';t mind having to post edit almost every image you shoot. The lack of 60fps was the clincher for me. I';ll stick to my Sony a6000 and GoPro 3+. That said it';s at a good price point now so there';ll be plenty of takers for it.

Ashutchy: what is it that needs tweaking on the images "as shot"? and does the lack of 60 fps leave a jello effect.

As i said i am tempted but if its not the best tool for copter imaging i probably should pass.

Hi Desmo. I';ve no first hand knowledge of this camera, I only read lots of reviews(professional and end user) when I was looking to buy a new cam recently and that was the opinion I came to. Most reviews are favourable but too many for my liking mentioned lots of post editing. Best advice is trawl the net, read the reviews and decide for yourself. That or if you';re lucky enough to have a local camera shop who stocks them call in for a chat.

Jello I don';t think should be too much of a problem providing you';ve taken the necessary steps to minimize vibration but again, for a definitive answer I';d talk to someone who knows.

BMPCC post production is similar to the GoPro Protune workflow.

Desmoboy

The Pro-av site does not list software as being in the package but i remember that the pocket blackmagic camera comes with DaVince resolve lite colour grading software.
This should not change with the price drop but who knows, i didn';t ask them about it this morning. So nearly clicked "add to checkout" but bottled out.

Desmoboy

This camera does not have auto focus, i did not know that when i first checked it out. That seems to rule it out as an airborne footage device, shame.

BMPCC will shoot both raw images and Pro-Res. Raw images need more post production - they will look flat and bland without serious colour correction, but you have tremendous latitude with regards to dynamic range - i.e. how the camera copes with extremes of light and shade.

Shoot in ProRes and it';s like a fairly ordinary DSLR type image, albeit with a better codec that yields benefits for serious video production.

Bear in mind that the crop factor on it is fairly large - some 2.5x - so getting a true wide-angle is somewhat tricky (a 12 mm wide-angle M4/3rds lens becomes a 30-odd mm in full frame terms) But if you know your stuff the results for such a small camera are unsurpassed.

Good for shooting from a drone? Well if you want light weight and are happy with setting exposure and focus on the ground - then yes. Failing that something like the new Panasonic 4k Bridge camera - far more like a DSLR in size - might yield better (read easier) results.
