Anyone rate the HJ MWC-X Alien?

Looks like I';m going to bite the bullet and take my first quad build to the next iteration.

My HK talon is nice enough, and I love all the carbon fibre, and it was a great price but I just really think that the arms are too flimsy. I broke one once, and the motor mounts just tend to rotate on the tube arms if I bump it. I also get the feeling that I';m getting a lot of flex there too.

My gut is leaning towards the HJ MWC x-mode Alien frame. There';s plenty of space on that for all the new gubbins I want to add and I just kind of feel that it looks a lot more sturdy, stable and looks like it really wants to get going and fly!

Plus, I';m still loving the fact that it';s probably not gonna cost me more than £20.

Anyone rate that frame?

Cheers

Cheers Marty, yes seeing a lot of videos of that frame flying.
Also looks like my new best friends Bang Good have it for a shade over a tenner too! :)

I';ve got one, it';s great although you have to get a bit creative if you want to mount an FPV cam.

I made an anti-jello mount for a GoPro case for it though - which was nice.

TBS Discovery + ghetto printed gimbal, HovershipMHQ 1 & 2, QAV250, Turnigy Talon V2, chinese Alien500 thingie, 3d Printed Tricopter, Bix 3, Flyingwings.co.uk FalconEVO, Venturi EVO 1+2, Hornet Racing Wing, Radjet800 (by the dozen)... Permanent sucker for FPV, and lots and lots of OpenLR

Isn';t that ';porch'; thingy at the front for mounting a camera? Or is there some subtlety I';m missing?
Seen a few people with their lipo mounted on the top. To me it seems sensible to put it in the middle - is there room in there for a 5000ma 3S?

Quite happy with mine  :-)
Naza Lite setup on it  Lots of space for kit just the cam mount plate is a bit on small side
Upgraded my arms to dji ones as well.
Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

The "porch" thingie is a standard clean-plate setup to stick a camera on with rubber bands or straps, I made a plate that has a mounting point for the GoPro case.

I put my lipo in the back, like on the discovery - no space on top of mine due to APM/RX/GPS placement

Works pretty well

I was flying an Alien until recently when I sold it.  It had a Naza M Lite on it, the GoPro Hero 3 Black was mounted on the shock absorber plate at the front, I added a layer of 4mm neoprene to add to the damping.  It was a superb FPV camera ship. The link below is typical of what I could get with it.

I used to shove the LiPo up the tunnel at the rear of the Alien - including a 5000mAh 3S.  It must have played havoc with the COG but the Naza M Lite seemed unperturbed. It flew absolutely fine with whichever battery I fitted (2200, 4000 and 5000).

I did set out with the original cheap DJI clone rotor arms, but when I was a bit flush with the cash I bought myself four pukka DJI arms and never looked back. They';re definitely an improvement.
