gimbal controllers for gimbal noob.....

right then ladies and gentlemen, i have no experience with gimbals at all so I';m not sure what to do here and i apologise if this is a stupid question!!

I bought an ifly4 when i first started out (reduced price, don';t judge me ) and after 4-5 flights it';s sat in a corner gathering dust ever since. I';m not ever going to get into the whole serious camera rig stuff it';s not really my cup o'; tea but a few occasions have arisen when a floaty stabilised gopro would have been of use and (my racer just doesnt really cut the mustard for that sort of thing) and seeing as the quads sat there i may as well get some form of use out of it!

so here';s the question! the ifly has an integrated gimbal controller designed for the ideafly servo gimbal but could a cheapish brushless system be plugged into this or does brushless kit require a dedicated specialist "brushless controller"??

it all hooks up with standard rx plugs and i';ve tested the system with 2 random servos i found lying around and they operated as expected.

thanks in advance  ~~

Gilly, I am as new to this as you are, but I believe if you';re going to use a brushless gimbal, you';ll need a controller. You cheapest options are this

Storm32 BGC 32Bit 3-Axis Brushless Gimbal Controller
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Storm32-BGC-32Bit-3-Axis-Brushless-Gimbal-Controller-V1-31-DRV8313-Motor-Driver-/261685967220?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item3cedb2f974

or this

BGC 3.1 MOS Large Current Two-axis Brushless Gimbal Controller + Sensor

cheers mate, i was afraid that would be the case. looks like im going to have to stick to a servo gimbal to utilize the on board controller.

im not overly bothered about "video quality" as im not doing anything professional, i just want to find a use for an otherwise useless quad lol

May I point you in the direction of these??

Just add 2 x 9g servo';s and away you go.

I have both of these and am looking forward to playing with them.

I';ve just got this inline one and set it up. Basic but seems to work quite well and available in the he UK warehouse.

One 9g servo and one 13g.
A tricopter is the only prime numbered multirotor (I need to change this signature since watching one of the latest videos from Flite Test but can't think of anything intelligent (smart arse) to change it to right now).

gilly

as as i can get one to work off the integrated gimbal controller i';m a happy boy  ~~
