Rubbish props!

Interesting weekend.
I';m trying to make my orientation super visible so I can get some good LOS flying skills, so I tried putting some colour coded props on. I didn';t have the right combination in 0947 so I put some 1045s on.

Turned my poor bird into a right comedy boneshaker! I simply couldn';t get the props balanced and it simply resulted in it jumping in the air.
Probably gonna bin those cheap HK props and go get myself some decent ones now that I';m not digging holes in the ground any more.

What do people think about CF vs CF composite props? Is it worth going all the way to get full CF ones or are the reinforced ones good enough.. And most importantly generally well balanced?

RCtimers carbon reinforced props are terrible but their carbon props are great for the price.

HQ Carbon Reinforce props are great - smoother running than RCtimers full carbon fibre props and almost as tough.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Carbon props are a must !!! They are far more rigid, the stresses and strains put on props is very high on multi rotor craft and the more rigid the better. Wooden props are also very good but can be more difficult to balance. For the extra cost over poly prop props carbon fibre is the best way to go...

For the longest of time I have baulked at the cost of CF props and gone through the ABS and carbon reinforced ABS route to finally taking the plunge and buying CF.

Now, being a bit of a meanie, I bought some ultra-cheap CF props from a seller on eBay. What a mistake that was. The carbon fibre was inconsistent in the support material and on second flight one prop shed a blade on lift off. Inspecting it I could see the strands of fibre that had not been coated in the bonding resin. Essentially useless and they';ve all been binned now.

I';ve switched my big 1045 props to Tarot brand, @shazzy sold me a pair he had and I liked them so much I';ve ordered up a spare set.

For my 250 mini H quad I';ve taken the RC Timer route, they sell very affordable packs of eight (4 each of CW and CCW) which is good for two full sets of props on a quad.  As @teslahed says, they do need balancing, and that is easy enough to do. I sand mine down to achieve prop blade balance but don';t bother with the hubs on these little 5035 props.

Going forward I will only use CF, and then only the ones that others have recommended, which can still be very affordable compared to some of the "big name" brands.

Once you go carbon, its very hard to go back. Issue is finding good quality carbon fibre props!
