Go to the graph tab on the ui.  It shows acc gyro output in real time and will show you if you have any vibrations

thats some handy info,i will keep that for future reference, thanks. managed to sort it though. the mobius on its own was not enough weight, the gimbal is designed for and tuned at the factory for the go pro. so i added some extra weight to the camera tray to bring it up to 100g and all is well!

Interesting. I wonder if the controller can be de-tuned for the mobius instead of "tuning" the mobius for the controller?

hmmm, interesting thought. id like to know if that';s possible too.

in theory i dont see why not. but then, maybe the gimbal just needs that kind of weight on it to function properly .

The main thing you need to do is balance the gimbal so it is neutral balanced
Then tune the ui

That';s why my idea is a no-go, the mobius only weighs 38gms. This gimbal is designed specifically for a go-pro, in fact the controller uses 10A drivers and pretty hefty motors so could possibly take a bigger camera if it would fit.

finally got to test out the gimbal outside in an 8mph breeze today and all i can say is wow! its a great bit of kit if you want a brushless gimbal but dont want to spend silly money on one. For sub £50 for a plug and play gimbal that just works, how can you go wrong!

I was running 2 2700 3s in parallel, obviously with the gimbal running off one as well as power to the copter and it only cost me 4 mins off my flight time, so no complaints in that respect.

**I also found out you cant use just a 1300 3s to run it. about 5 mins into the flight the gimbal started acting weird and i was losing power so i landed and checked the battery. it was extremely puffed up and too hot to touch :blink :o
I must of been mere seconds from a full on fire under my quad,it was that hot.

So, i wont be doing that again in a hurry

here is one of the videos from today shot with said gimbal. my first foray into the woods with my quad. never flown in a confined space before, and i really enjoyed it! was a bit tricky walking on a wet muddy slippery path, flying the quad and not being able to use my hands to help balance myself as i forgot my tx strap  had visions of falling on my arse and managing to crash the quad into my own face at the same time ::)

This has made me want to try fpv even more now. all i need is a small windfall so i can buy the gear :whistling: :-/

**Think i may of made a bit of a balls up! when using the 1300 to power the gimbal, i used a 2200 3s to power the quad. No problem there you might say..... but when i came to charge the 2200 when i got home, it was still 4.20 on all 3 cells....Which can only lead me to believe one thing......i forgot to plug the damn 2200 in! :slap:

I plugged the balance lead of the 2200 into my alarm, but didnt connect the lipo to the naza, which would also explain why the alarm didn';t go off when i started losing power to the quad and gimbal.

Thank christ i was filming only a few inches off the ground at the time and not 200ft up like i usually do!
So the severe puffing and the severe heat on the 1300 was not just due to powering the gimbal, but powering the gimbal and the quad at the same time. Still got 5 mins flight time out of the bugger though!
Could of been an expensive mistake.... luckily it only cost me battery and not my whole rig.

And the muppet of the week award goes to.........ME!

A nice bit of leaf blowing there mate ~~  Can I book you in for autumn in my garden?

That gimbal performed really well.  But what I am staggered at is that you got 5 minutes out of a 1300mAh!  No wonder you boiled it ::) ... but 5 mins, jeez thats good going *doffs cap* ~~

Going to have to bookmark that gimbal for a future project - thats a smart price you got.

lol, im available all year round for leaf blowing duties/saw dust clearance mate, very reasonable rates but you need to book at least a week in advance!

i was pretty impressed with 5 mins out of that as well! once the puffing and heat went down, i stuck it on the charger anyway, cells were very low but it took a charge! still wont be using it though, that will be kept purely to power my servo testing and things like that.

Im just thankful i was low and slow at the time. could of been real messy!

For a PnP gimbal that';s looking good Dal ~~

Not too shabby is it steve! for anyone who cant afford the high end gimbals, i think its a bargain! Didnt even need to go near the pc with it for tuning, which was a big plus for me.

all i had to do was add a few wheel balance weights coupled with the mobius to bring the weight up to that of a goprop and it was good to go. Usually i hate adding dead weight, but i think the results outweigh the weight penalty in this case.

Only thing with it is, its fairly heavy, but a little while with the dremel and you could probably shave a bit of weight of if you wanted. for me, i didnt bother and its only cost me about 3/4 mins off my flight times. ~~

*ive found this gimbal works best with 100g weight on the tray, for anyone interested*

Does what it says on tin, as demonstrated by mrmurder1975  ~~

I';d be interested in a couple of pics of placement of both mobius and weights added. And how do you find clearance when it swings (pitches) back and forth? I ask as I';m hoping to hook up AV out.

will do a couple of pics for you asap mate. as for clearance, its all good. plenty of room for both the roll and pitch swing without it hitting itself. You would virtually have to get the quad pointing straight up (or down!) before you had to worry about it hitting anything.

The one issue i did encounter with it hitting itself was when i ran a wire from the control board to the naza to control pitch on the knob on the dx7s. i found it very easy to move it too far and bind it up, then it dawned on me all i had to do was go into the tx and adjust the travel on the aux 2 setting.

Got the gimbal nice and level via subtrim with the knob in the central position on the tx, then used the travel adjust to reign in the amount it moved in relation to the knob. can get it looking straight down now without binding it up. Straight up as well, but all that gives you in a nice shot of the gimbal mounting plates ::)

Sorted! ~~

Have you guys used any precautions :o

Those rubber vibration balls are the only thing holding the gimbal in place.  They are suspending the weight unlike Talon T-2D (have a look, its very different).  I';ve seen a few fliers use zip ties as a sort of loose tether looped through each ball just in case.

That said, it does look rather cool - and to work OOTB without any work needed other than mounting is a real plus.

Thats a very good point Danny, that didnt even cross my mind.

Before my next flight, im going to add a couple of safety features (aka zip ties!) to make sure if the dampeners do let go, i dont have to stand there watching the gimbal and mobius making a rapid decent to the ground.

Thanks for pointing that out. ~~

You';re welcome - it only occurred to me when I saw it on the website ... I';d been working on getting my "new" Tarot T-2D ready for mounting to my TBS Disco - thats another story - and one of the YouTube videos highlighted the potential issue with gimbal that are built like yours.

certainly a potential problem, and for the sake of a couple of zip ties, it would be daft not to bother when it could potentially prevent some expensive damage!

Damn the lot of you!!!  ::)

Just took delivery of said same Gimbal and did the obligatory mirror test.  Quad is still in a state of repair (waiting for new motor), but this is it mounted just off centre underneath.  May look at seeing if it hand forward a bit more but it may take the CoG too far out.

First impression, looks good.  Seems quiet and smooth.

Video is the direct output from the GoPro, and I';ve got the Field of View on Medium and shows too much leg (oo-eer!) for my liking really.  I';ll see how it goes when it';s flying again.
