Whats better 2 x batteries in parallel or 1 x large lipo?

For my Hex I am using 4000 mah 30 c and 5000 30 c singles but every now and then I am getting a low voltage on the board.
Is it better to put 2 x 3000 or 4000 in parallel or one large 6000 or 8000 lipo by itself?

What do you guys use?

Motors are 2212 x 6 with 1038 carbon props & 30 amp esc on an APM2.6 with power module.

Will do some static power ups & monitor in mission planner to see what amps  & volts readings in use & add to this post.
Any other suggested tests?
Thank you,
John

As with everything it';s a compromise between weight and something else.
In this case the something else is protection against a cell failure,  a parallel lipo configuration offers a degree of protection whereas one large lipo will weigh less.
Another consideration is cost both upfront and replacement  I used 2 x 6000 which was less than 1 x 12000, but that equation can vary especially for lower mah lipos.
Why not just double up what you have if you have pairs of the same rating.

Johnc

I have just ordered a matching pair to try as singles and as a pair to see how it manages with the extra weight.
I assume from the size that you are using yours is a lot larger craft?
Will report back once they arrive and are tested in comparison to the ones I am using at present.
Thank you,
John

I use pairs of 5000mah 4S lipo';s. Purchase cost was far cheaper to do it that way as they are lower C ratings that 10,000mah packs and I don';t need high C for my rig.

Not sure what you have, but I built this
Tarot X6 frame
Tarot 5008/340KV motors
Hobbywing XRotor 40A ESC';s
It';s setup to carry a
DYS 3 axis Gimbal
Sony A6000

I haven';t flown it with the Gimbal & Sony yet, but that was what I spec';d it for

Mine is an ATG700 with a2212 1000kv motors, 30amp esc, 2 axis gimbal with SJ4000 copy.
Had a Crius FC, now trying APM 2.6 with power module,GPS,etc so that I can get more info on flight data & to see if the Loiter, etc is any better. Will put telem on as well as it has just arrived.
Trying to get more confidence in the craft after a recent fly away with the Crius board.
Thanks for the info  ,
John
