H4 Alien Coaxial octocopter build

Figured I';d share my build with you all since there doesn';t seem to be enough octo-quads out there. Have to say, this is probably my favorite build so far - going all out with the wire wraps and making this as permanent as possible. I had to get a little creative with wiring the power harness to get all my ESC to fit inside of the frame but I think it ended up looking pretty decent (power cable sticks out of the bottom so its not too visible). More pics to come as I finish her up. Here';s the build list:

8x T-motor MT4006 740kv
8x T-motor S25A ESC
8x 12" CF props
NAZA V2 Flight Controller
iOSD to come with GoPro gimbal and 600mW skyzone Tx
BATT: 2 pack of 5600mAh 4S in parallel and 2 pack of 8000mAh 4S in parallel

So far the weight is in the 1.3kg range so I think I might be just barely pushing 3kg AUW fully loaded with the 16000mAh 2 pack!

That';s a sweet looking build you have going on there fella!  ~~ ~~

I am in the process of building an X4 octoquad based on the Tarot Ironman 1000 frame with home designed motor mounts for the Tarot 4114 - 320kv motors.

I am putting my esc';s (40A) out on the end of the booms to help with cooling, and have a Fixhawk FC to use.

I am now feeling embarrassed about the poor quality of my wiring...hmmm....the trouble is that if I get it flying, meaning to come back and tidy up the wiring, its never going to happen... :embarrassed

I look forward to more updates.

Happy Easter
Cheers

Hey, as long as the props don';t hit the wires! All my other builds have been pretty sloppy so I figured it was time to go all out and make something permanent. Think I';ll be adding this one to my permanent collection.

So I think she';s looking done until I figure out my FPV setup. Definitely need to find a better alternative for the landing gear, but this thing flies amazingly! I';ve never flown anything besides quads but the way this thing yaws and banks in turns kind of blew my mind. I think I';m definitely considering going Y6 or X8 for a mini build after testing this thing.

Only have one flight test in but I went just shy of 8 min. with only one 5600mAh 4S and looks like I drew less than 50% capacity (charging back up right now). Not bad for how hard I was testing the throttle and being a couple inches under my max prop size for these motors. Can';t wait to try out the 16000mAh batt!

Hey Stickboy,
That';s looking good for a first flight ~~

Yeah, wires away from props seems to work, but it does make for a messy build.

I plan to run 3S batteries in series to give me the 6S I need; 2 x 3S 5000 on each of the 4 arms should do it!

I just finished the power distribution build; I will put up some pics this evening when I get home.

Looking forward to hearing how much batt you used.

Stay safe
Cheers

That is very nice. This octo is very capable. Many of them look like little monsters ( not for bad say) But this type looks unusually.
And seems like if some rotor stops, the other one on the same side helps it to stabilize the drone. Simple and wonderful technology. I like it
