4s charger reporting as 3s

Hi all.

This has only happened recently and I am not sure if there should be concern or not.

I use the Imax B6 charger which before charging will check that the battery you are using is the same as what you have selected eg 4s 14.8v.

I noticed earlier when about to press ';charge'; that it reported as a 3s... but still allowed me to charge it which I am assuming it should not. We have two of these charger/plate setups and it reads the same on both while others read 4s/4s.

I have other votage readers and they are all saying that all 4 cells are balanced evenly.

Anyone come across this and any advice on what may be causing it?

My charger seems to get the cell count from total voltage and will show 2s if I drained the 3s too low. I read in the manual, it just says go ahead and override it to 3s.

It seems you are right. It now reads 4s and 4s. The previous charge was after I had used a low battery to do some config stuff on the PC so ran it right down.
