Do antenna have to be on the vtx and goggles ?

I only do them finger tight at the minute as I have to take them off the goggles
To get them in the case after use.

Yes, you need the antennas on the tx and rx if you are going to turn them on!

For storage/transport you can happily remove them, as for how tight to put them on, I just put them on finger tight, (tight enough so they can';t rotate on their own).

I carry a 100mm adjustable spanner to change my props, so I can nip my antenna up if needed.

Finger tight is all I do, because if you go all "gung-ho" on it you run the risk of busting the solder joints between the board and SMA connector, or you can bust the SMA connector itself, not only that it becomes a right P.I.T.A to remove.

Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

I would add finger tight for the Vrx antenna, and ';just nipped'; with a spanner on the air end, ';cause of the vibes!

Actually to tighten SMA';s correctly requires an 8 mm torque wrench set to between 0.8 and 1.2 Nm mine is set at 1.0  (Used for my work in the Mobile phone Base station repair/maintenance).

Funny seeing that super accurate torque setting. I remember my dad teaching me to tighten the wheel nuts on my first car, his torque rating was "jump on the wheel nut spanner until you hear them crack!". Suppose that';s how they were taught in the army :)

Yep that was the ARMY way (they weren';t nicknamed Grunts for nowt you know)

But the correct torque can probably likened to finger tight plus a slight nip with an 8 mm spanner.

I think I will just give the vtx antenna a tweak with the spanner, wouldn';t let my farmer friend tweak it though. He has a touch like a baby elephant  ::)

Quite.  I know exactly what you mean and the expense of a torque spanner isn';t really justified is it (I just happen to have a couple supplied by work).

That';s what I said
Actually, Immersion were supposed to start including a small wrench with their VTx';s, not quite sure what happened to that idea?  Cut-backs I';m sure.
