Ok so my new Frsky Tx and Rx have arived. I have learned the Rx (D8R-II Plus) is required to be flashed with D8R -XP Firmware in order to provide RSSI and CPPM. Which I have reflashed successfully but not knowing much about CPPM I think im in trouble lol.  So back to the crash course training in hopes to learn how to set up the CPPM on my 9XR and RX. I havnt gotten to the point of rssi and where I want it to go. I dont think the radio is prepared for such info. Currently im running 3DR telemetry and not any knowledge other then 3DR. :(

You don';t do anything on the 9xr ... just connect the 3rd and 4th channel signal pins together on the rx ... then tell the FC you are using CPPM (or PPM-SUM - same thing different name) and plug channel 1 from the RX into the appropriate channel on the FC (usually the throttle)

Toledodave

Barneyg, thats great news. Im going to guess thats about as plug-n-play as you can get? Lol

Thank you for the valuable info. I will attempt tonight when I get home from work and post my results :)
Thanks again everyone for your help and educating me.

Good deal. Sounds like you have it sorted out now. I do hear people calibrating with a 4 in 1 connector but they are still only going threw the Rx.  As far as the blue tooth goes....does it work when its plugged in? Upon thinking about it more....try and monitor your voltage as you try with and without to initialize your escs. Due to the boards small tolerance window 3v-6v and reading of all the recent voltage filter failures maybe the BT is too much. You may need a Bec to power it and reduce some of the FCs load from the filters.   Just an idea. Oh and where are you connecting the BT to?

Toledodave,

I believe S0. I got my Afro 20 amp speed controllers and have installed them and looks like all is well now. No more problems with the BT module and speed controllers intializing.   Also Got GPS module working, but havent tested loiter yet. With the reports of quad skyrocketing, I want to make sure I got vibs under control and PID set rock solid before I try it.

Thanks for assistance. Helps a lot to have your here.  ::)

Badger..thats great news. Glad to have been able to help.  Good luck with your pids. Im getting close to that myself. I never adjusted my pids on my Y6. It flys nice out of the box. AltH and baro are pretty good and never tryed rth. Lol. Im already finishing my tri. All together but no servo action for some reason and waiting for some fpv cables to arrive and goin to play :)

Toledodave,

Got one question, does the GPS module have to be mount pointing in a certain direction? Also which way is front? :hmm:
Does this look right?

Toledodave

I dont know much about Crius boards and GPS. But I would guess unless compass is in the gps then no. Gps only knows direction of travel not direction of heading. Thats what the compass on the flight controller is for.

Toledodave

So far everything as smooth as can be expected. Flys very nice. Little low on power but very smooth n stable for out of the box with no trim or Pid adjustments. Cant check baro and AltH with 30mph winds today :(

Thanks again everyone for their help. Was a flawless launch.

Lookin'; good Dave.  I';d be soooo tempted to Dremel off those motor bolts tho ;-)

Very nice Dave! Don';t see many Tri';s with GPS. 30 MPH winds! :o Don';t do it dave! Last time I flew in winds far less than that, I came home Quadless. :cry Never found it.

Thanks everyone.
Flyby I agree..the bolts were cut little while ago :)

Deffinately nofly today! Lol. I wouldnt even think about it. Havnt lost one yet.....yet :)

Im an Idiot!.....lol.      so I decide to do the 9xr telemetry mod (late at night) and after hrs of videos and homework I open the box to assess my contact points I learn I have to flash the radio too. So upon more hrs of video and studying the process of adding a 6 pin plug to solder to the board to flash...I realize I have a newer 9xr with plug on the bottom of radio.  So with some relief I then proceed to flashing and fighting with avrusb drivers because companion9 refused to flash saying wrong drivers. Upon more hours of research I learn I have a 128 chip in my radio and was attempting to flash the wrong FW. So then my only option was opentx for the 128 chip and the ertx wasnt an option. So then I mived to the Telemtry mod and realized after taking the weekend off from work first time this year I forgot my fine tipped soldering iron at work. Lol  So I went to bed lol  what a night. :)

So when you think your havin a bad day just think of me :)

Before doing the hardware mod look at this page 9xr telemetry

It is for openlrsng but most of the modification is the same.  It shows some new pads for pins 41 and 42 that are on the 9xr that should be easier to solder to and have less risk of damaging chips

Well Dave last night must have been the night from hell for transmitter issues, because I was trying to set my sub trims on my Hobby King 6 channel transmitter, and the programming cable must have slipped half way out. That must have fried the transmitter because none of the channel except 6 are working now. All the end points show 255 and changing them back to what they were didn';t help. :banghead:

So I had to order a replacement. I didn';t have a lot of money so I ordered the Flysky FS-T6(No F-in programming cables again). I really wanted the  Fly sky FS-TH9X but it was out of stock everywhere. My real choice if I had the money would have been the FR Sky X9D.

Lol wow  some of us just have all the luck! Lol.  Im rdy to solder telemtry wires into my 9xr. Fiance had different plans for me this weekend. Lol new counter tops, sink, fancy touch faucet and back splash this weekend. So far the kitchen is winning lol.  3 tiles into her kitchen and she decides not going to work. Lol so pulled it all down and headin to store now. Lol.   Good luck with your tx/rx :)

Lol. I think I will have better luck with my transmitter than you will with the kitchen fixes! But you  did the smart thing and just gave in. ~~
You would have lost anyway. Not a smart thing to say no to a women when she has made up her mind!
