Hi all... Just wondered if there are many of you out there that partake in the practice of night flying. I have become more and more addicted to this practice over the winter due to the crap weather and on so many occasions the only chance of getting my flying fix is to hit the local field at night !!! I have just strapped a set of cree 600 lumens cycle lights to my large quad and it looks like a bugeyed alien spacecraft at night and is such fun. The only problem is i had to find a new place away from the village as i have had real problems with cars stopping to see whats going on which will only attract the old bill so i have resricted my clandestine practice to a much more remote location ...

Awesome. Love the sound of it. I have done some flying late afternoon when the light starts to go and love the look of my machines in the air. Not sure I have the b***s to fly in absolute darkness tho....

Get some decent high intensity LED';s on and go for it; if you';ve got RTL there';s no problem (provided it';s reliable), never had so much fun! I occasionally fly a small lightweight park flier plane at night as well - with loads of LED';s on it really is fantastic fun and allows you to fly a lot more.

I';ve started to do this for the same reasons as you, crappy weather.  I however have hardly any lights, so it';s interesting.  I just keep an eye on the GoPro LED :)

Night flights seem to be the only way to get some air time lately, I recently popped my night time FPV cherry in a large open, floodlite carpark. I was very nervous about not being able to see at all but once I swapped the PZ0420 into black and white mode the world was visable again, I could see a lot more detail than the GoPro had picked up from the same flight... my next adventure will be to fly away from the lights using strobes to mark my landing position for an extra scare ;) here is my first ever night flight (starts at 2:18)...

Seen a fair few folks in various facebook groups doing that. I entertianed the thought myself as i have a bunch of IR leds knocking about from old projects but I decided against it.
