Hi all ... Just fitted a new set of dji opto esc,s today on the 960 quad that had the ESC go up in smoke on power up. Turns out it spiked my naza and has blown that into the wind as well, so had to spend yet another £107 today on another naza lite.... Also was reliably informed today that DJI will no longer be selling the NAZA lite as a FC package only and it will only be available as a ARTF item. This does seem odd as if thats the case how are you supposed to buy spares. Anyways it seems the cheap naza,s are getting short on supply now so if you want one you need to quick... A big thankyou to Andrew at www.droneflight.co.uk for his help and speedy service at getting another FC out to me before the weekend. Still miffed though have had all sorts of thoughts of what i would like to do to the offending ESC LOL...

life is too short to worry about what others think !!!

very unlucky what a bummer, wouldn';t have thought it would have damaged the naza though, i';d be well peev';d.
Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

surely the esc was not fit for purpose
and is liable for the cost of replacement parts and damage caused..

If i bought a cam belt and it snapped after installation i would
want the company to replace or repair my engine, that was not broke before installation.
Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems.  However, like Nub I am very surprised that a blown esc would damage the Naza.  Since there is no electrical connection between the naza motor output and the esc (opto esc) the only other path for a "voltage spike" to get back to the naza is through the power supply.  Any voltage spike would be attenuated by the input capacitors on the other escs and the battery itself which has a very low internal resistance.  Any remaining spike would then have to pass through the regulator (bec) in the power module before reaching the naza and your receiver.  It would be interesting to know if anyone else has experinced this.
