i have been following with interest the thread about the missing hex that is now very likely going to end up back with its owner due to the good work done by some great people on this forum.

This got me thinking that we are all missing a very simple solution to lost MR';s. All those that are using camera recording equipment I.E gopro etc why dont we all make a small video of ourselves on the SD card giving specific info like where to contact the owner etc.
this seems a little too simple i know but how many of you have had flyaways and never seen your drone ever again. this could really help you !!!!

Most people would just format the memory stick and go about using it for their own purposes. The zip tie with your details sounds like a good idea.

Been thinking about this as well..

One thing that couldn';t be removed or changed is the serial number of the Naza V1, V2, Phantom, Wookong, A2 etc.. and it will be registered to the owner on the DJI cloud service... police could easily find the owner that way

On the frame.. GPS tracker would help.. along with lots of stickers. some in hard to find places..

I just put a sticker on mine with my contact details and the offer of a reward.

I think that - simply put - a scrupulous finder of your lost equipment only needs a very simple sticker with your name and mobile number and they';ll contact you ....

An unscrupulous finder will simply remove all identification stickers - tags - marks - usb sticks (which they';ll wipe and use) - and any other razamatazz .. and just sell it on no matter what you';ve attempted to stick to it ..... :azn

I use self-stick address labels that have my home phone number on them (must get another set printed with my mobile).  The hope is that if the worst happens that the aircraft is found by a scrupulous person and contact made.

As xh558 says, those that are so-inclined will remove all identification and try and make a few bob on it on eBay or Tumbleweed.

I';m afraid that there is no foolproof way of getting your fly-away back if it truly has gone walkabout.

I';m getting some success with this GPS tracker:
http://gps-tracker-review.toptenreviews.com/tk-102-mini-gps-tracker-review.html

so far the battery lasts a week on standby! and it does actually send the GPS coordinates to your phone when you call it.

It can also be set to send its position when it moves!

I have address stickers on my beast including the battery. I have also used a UV pen and written my postcode and house number on the top & bottom plate, arms, legs & battery. A big UV arrow on the GPS dome too.

UV pens may be available (free?) at your local police station. I got mine free from Somerset & Avon a few years back.
