hi i know this isnt multi rotor related but need a bit of help, ive just recieved my bixler 2 rc plane ive connected every thing to give it a test and im having motor issues. without a prop the motor spins just fine but with the prop its very juddery (if thats a word) almost like the prop is to heavy. this is a rtf kit. i new to electric powered rc so im not sure if im doing anything wrong.

Are all 3 wires connected properly...? Sounds like it could be single phasing.

sounds like you have a snapped wire on one of the motors 3 phases..
check the motor for a snapped wire or bad soldering on the 3 phases coming off the motor...
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

deano

yep checked all 3 wires.its really weird how its fine with no propeller atached

3 for 3 m8 I';m with the 2 above you got a snapped lose wire seen it a couple of times on that model but its a great model m8 well worth a little fiddling

deano

if its the wire then why does it the motor run fin without the prop?

It must be failing under load, so perhaps a duff esc/wiring or a combo of.  Do u have spare motor/esc to swap out?  What motor/esc are u using btw?

Hardware? sure, I got hardware!

the esc has 20a ubec written it and the motor is a hobbyking 2620-1300kv Brushless Outrunner

no spares first plane

One of my motors came with a broken winding which was only obvious when I took it apart.

It ran fine when first tested then exhibited the same juddery starting as you mention and would infact only start when spun by hand.

Is this the stock Bixler motor?

If one of the windings has a broken strand It will run with no load but struggle with a prop on. If one of the windings has no connection then it will never run just judder.

. If you get a voltmeter stick it on ohms and measur between the  3 wires they should all read exactly the same. If they dont check the soldering where they join the silicon wire.

heres a vid with the prop on

and without

Might be a broken strand in one of the wires , might be the timing is wrong on the esc settings.

Try firing it up without a prop on and then try to slow it down with your fingers , if it dies straight away the motor could be pooped or needs an un-connected strand re-soldered.

if it takes a bit of  force to stop it could be the esc timing is wrong. I don';t have a bixler so you will prob need help from someone more familiar with it to set up the esc.

ps I think your prop is the wrong way round,  but that won';t stop it from spinning up , just a bit less oomph once you get it running

tony

on  the bixlar they normal solder the wires together i bet you got a bad solder joint i had the same thing shuddering motor and in the end it stopped all together when that happened i opened it up to find 1 of the solder joint was only held on by the heat shrink  i put 3.5mm bullets on it job done
