You guys probably know about this but I was looking at getting a Jumper T16 when I found out that this is soon to be released.

I think this is the way I'm going to go.

Just be aware that FrSky are locking down their transmission protocols! First with ACCES and now with ACCST 2.0! Both encrypted so until encryption is cracked no 3rd party rx. So within a year or so I doubt FrSky will be selling 'old' non encrypted rx. That said unless they lock new rx like they have with new tx (D16 or access only) people might be able to flash old fw onto rx to work with 3rd party tx.
Check out the frysky protocols before you splash out!
I try :-)

So basically New/er FrSky Receivers will not be able to receive the signal from this radio at some point in the future?

I'm planning on moving to crossfire for most things and in all honesty If that is the way that FrSky are heading I'll be more inclined to move away from them. I'm not a fan of these proprietary type moves.

Although, saying that I will likely keep a hold of my Q7X just for those instances where I might need it.

It would appear that FrSky are 'protecting' their technology by encryption. The current 3rd party rx even the inbuilt spi frsky compatible ones are effectively 'copying' the existing protocols that FrSky spent time and money developing, uness they copied them from someone else? So I can sort of see their logic, but the tx run on open source software! OK so FrSky do, I believe contribute to it's development but it's still open source.
It's a bit early days yet as ACCESS only came out 6 months ago and ACCST 2.0 is only just being talked about on youtube so little early to say exactly what will happen. I just thought I would mention the FrSky protocol changes before you, or anyone else, spends money on a new tx.

If you are going crossfire then no issue. Unless you update the Q7 to the new ACCST 2.0 you should be fine with the kit you have. Currently, as far as I know, FrSky rx are still being sold with original ACCST FW so us people using ACCESS have to flash them anyway!

I get the impression that Frsky are trying to protect their business but they are going to kill it with all the encryption as people will just say why buy more FrSky kit when they make it obsolete. I can buy another brand or just any radio that can accept 'universal' tx modules.

Just a heads up really.

I think this is the main point really. I get that they want to protect their business but they are one of the main players of the business and as they are one of the first names as noob like myself learns they are in a good position to capitalise on that. A loss of reputation whether it be for the right or wrong reasons can only harm them.

Well that is the way I see it anyway.

I didn't know that about FrSky but it does not surprise me.

Anyway another reason on not to use their stuff.
