Powering Goggles?

Now I have the Diatone R349 in addition to my Martian3 my ev100 goggle's battery doesn't last long enough.

They take 2S voltage with a standard dc barrel plug and a 2s balance port for the dvr. So I think the Fatshark type will work fine.

There are Fatshark batteries about and boxes for 18650 cells but I'm not sure which ones to go for?

So do any of you have any recommendations for which battery box or battery to go for?

Cheers
I try :-)

As you know I only use my EV100's for Indoor/Garden. For the longer school club sessions I initially bought a second battery from Banggood.  I later bought a non-branded green shrink 3000MaH from somewhere, but have not used it as much as the BG ones have USB charging which I find convenient.

It might have been HobbyRC, but have tried to look for you and the site is down ATM.

No, it was from Drone Junkie, and was 3300mAh, viz.......

That's good to know, thanks. Do you use the eachines ev100 dvr with the Drone Junkie lipo as it has all pins connected to the balance port where the standard battery only is missing the centre conductor (1S)?

Cheers

Yes.

The Eachine battery is 2S output across the outer two just like any other 2S, it is supposed to be a "smart" battery though, with internal balancing, hence only needing the external output supply, not per cell.

I have no idea how "smart" the Eachine packs are though!

So as it was my birthday recently I decided to push the boat out.

I have just received this 1860 Battery box.

So first off it's not cheap but it does have some nice features.

You can charge 18650 in the unit with the supplied xt60/balance adapter.
It has a timer warning that can be set at 30,60,90 or 120 mins.
It has a low voltage alarm that you can set.
It has a low voltage cutoff to preserve batteries, again user configurable.
You can set a current limit, no idea why?

The display is nice and displays both cell voltage, total V, cell fill level, mA used, current load, temp and your nick name  :D

I have also ordered the extension cable as I didn't know if it would be too big/heavy compared to the ev100 battery.
Plus some nice good quality large capacity 18650 batteries but neither of those are here yet. So I am just using some no brand 4000mAh!!!!!   !!! 1860 for now.

I have tested the battery box on my ev100 and it works great. Shows about 0.41A draw so once the 3000mAh batteries arrive I should get a good 5hrs which is way way more screen time than I would ever need. It fits in the original head strap holder, it is bigger and heavier and does sit next to my ear but not in an uncomfortable way.

Hopefully I will get to field test it this weekend.

Setting a current limit will save the battery in the event of a short.

The 18650 batteries I ordered back in July finally arrived today!!! Somehow the travelled from China to USA then to UK!!!
They are 3000mAh Samsung 18650 They are not cheap but for genuine Samsung I thought it might be worth is?

Had a quick test today and with about 50mins of powering my ev100 goggles and dvr the FuriousFPV battery pack said I had used 568mA and after charging the charger said 583mA added back. So looks like the batteries would give about 4hrs power.
I also tried the FuriousFPV extension cable. Plugged into the ev100 and the dvr (if it were for Fatshark the 2s balance port on the cable would power the fan). It was a great length to go from goggles to my back pocket over my shoulder.

OK so not cheapest way of powering goggles but nice to know I'm not going to run out of goggle power and have the weight off my head. I'm very pleased.
I try :-)
