A new Quad AQ600

Having put the Tricopter projects on the back burner, and having the big sunnysky 3108 motors spare, got to thinking what could i do to use up some bits and bobs, an AQ600 frame brand new got offered, i have some esc`s loads of LED lights and other bits plus a spare Naza V1 and a few flashed KK2.1 boards, so i will be putting all this into the 600 frame (not naza and kk together, one or other)

I have made a start, this should be a very clean build............but i am waiting on parts, story of my life, i have some hobbyking blue 30amp esc`s i had planned to use but they are large and i want this right so i have ordered 4 Favourite 40amp Blheli from china........still waiting for the last motor from BG (sunnysky x3108 720kv) i think i have finally found the right frame/project for these lovely motors, the sharp eyed among you will see the motors are not wired in, in fact they are just sat on the arms as it will have to be packed away while i wait for bits.
Still not sure if it will have a camera, but its going to have lots of LED lights

After a rather long wait for esc`s to arrive, they have turned up today, the 4th motor arrived a couple of weeks back, so it looks like i will be soldering up lots of connections and pressing on with this build, its looking like it will have my gimbal and Amkov camera from the S550

  finally making progress with this build, ESC`s soldered in place motor wires extended ans started fitting motors but its a tricky job and i have been breathing solder fumes all afternoon, once i have the last of the motors in place it should be a pretty quick job to bung in the Naza V1 and give it a try

The bit you all have been waiting for, some pictures, motors all fitted, ready for Naza and power next, motors are sunnysky X3108s 700kv with 11" T-series props, may go up to 12" if needed

I feel like i have been building this all ruddy weekend, but its ready for test flight, motors all spinning correctly, feels like it has good lift, Naza fitted, might have to relocate the RX, for a large frame space is not best

Flies like its on rails, totally locked in, and very happy with it, this bird is a pleasure to fly, P3 has not even been powered up since this took to the air

See, told you bigger is easier to fly, they really do get a lot more stable.

Dont have trouble with quads, its just fixed wing that has me in a pile of broken bits

Big bird AQ600 now has live view, fitted a vtx hooked up to Mobius, after a bit of head scratching i have live feed

Looking good, Mobius saves a lot of weight compared to a Gopro +gimbal.. Awaiting flight test results..

Been flying this for ages, just not with FPV, gonna have issues with gimbal balance as i had to move camera forward a few mm to get vtx lead in back, have added a 5g weight to rear of cam, but will be a trial and error getting it nice again, here is a video shot with mobius from a while back

Cheers, yes its a nice old quad, in another thread i had planed to rebuild this into a better frame, but think i will continue with this one a while longer, i DO need to go over it and glue all the screws to lock them, when i fitted vtx i found a lot of frame screws had started to loosen up, a few were missing!

Don't worry about a few screws missing.. I have the same problem and after a while I hardly notice.

R.I.P AQ600, 28.08.18 at 18.10 pm

Mobius gimbal snapped, landing gear trashed, one metal arm bent, various wires ripped out,took of after doing pre flight, sats good, home point set but it just drifted backwards, no response to forward pitch had to ditch it.

   NOT HAPPY :evil :evil

With a lot of surprise i managed to cobble this old multi back into the air tonight, managed the sort of straighten the bent arm, re align the motors, Russ gave ma a landing leg, did not quite fit but got it to hold in place with zip ties, wont be a camera for it until i can source another gimbal, so due to the frame damage looks like i will end up getting a new frame later in the year and do a full rebuild............oh and crash was my fault, when i took compass of i refitted it 90 degree out of kilter :embarrassed
But at least it still flies, good to know the Naza V1 is okay
