CADDX HD Antenna Fault

One of my Babyhawk II HD's booted up today with no video.

I then found that the CADDX DJI HD antenna plastic drum head was had loosened slightly on the support tube as a chip had been lost from the tube fitting, allowing it to minimally move.

There is an inner co-ax loosely routed up to the antenna itself inside the support tube, and this appeared secure and OK. While minimally moving the head video came back with a good video picture and would not go away again.

Not wishing to lose/damage the quad, I took it straight out of service and on returning home fitted a new spare I had.

I then opened up the suspect antenna to try to find the failure point.

Inside the quite thick smoke plastic head, the co-ax is soldered to a pagoda like PCB disc of 13mm diameter.

This in turn is spot soldered at four points to a flexible black plastic strip round the inside of the plastic drum head, which contains the antenna curving tracks (left hand).

The outside of this is printed in white with makers data.

Two of the four tiny solder points from the PCB to this flexible black antenna strip had failed.
The security of the tube to the drum is the ONLY thing stopping load being applied to the tiny solder connections if the co-ax becomes taut.

SO, if you use this system and the plastic top shows ANY sign of looseness to the black support tube, or if you know the otherwise loose co-ax has suffered a tug on it, DUMP IT IMMEDIATELY.
