Huajun Hex Back In The Air

Well, after crashing with a motor failure about a year ago, I finally got around to finding out what caused the crash. I think I actually posted the crash in the ';Did YOU Crash Today'; thread  :smiley:

Anyhoo, I dismantled the motor pod/nacelle and found this:

[attach=1]

Looks like that may be the culprit. Shoving a 1.5v motor across the terminals resulted in the motor spinning nicely, so the logical thing to do was solder the bleedin'; wire back on...
A quick test without the props attached saw 3 of the 6 motors spin up, but tilting the hex forward and backwards, left and right kicked the gyro into gear and they all started behaving themselves.

So, on with the props and... bugger! missing a little brass bush that stops the motor shaft from shaking about on one of the motors. Giving it a wiggle, it only moves a bit... Let';s see what happens...  :crossfingers:

Looks like it might still fly

Well, I burned through a whole pack just hovering and cruising around the back garden. I did try flying one-handed, so that I could take another pic, but I got a bit close to the fence and had to ditch! But no harm done.  :laugh:

It was only a cheap toy, but I do like flying it. It';s light as a feather, runs for abut 8-10 mins on a tiny 2S and the controller has a nice feel. Plus, I';ve got another thing to fly when I go to the field!

Good that you have got it flying again, i toyed with getting one of these a while back, looks like they fly well

They';re surprisingly rock-solid for tiny brushed motors and 2S packs. But the camera on mine is shocking! Blurry as hell, despite cleaning the lens and cover.

Mind you, it';s got flips built in, which scares the pants off onlookers!  :laugh:
