Oldboy

Hi Guys
I';m an old newbie.  Got myself a Syma X5C-1 for my 60th. It';s been a long time dream, first for a model plane, then a helicopter but never a realisation.  Once I saw the drones/quads etc I decided it was going to become a reality.  Having done research and watching youtube I decided to take the advice of many "go small and learn".  Having only tried a few hovers inside, I realise I';ve a lot to learn about flying.  I';m feeling good about buying this quad, reviews seem to be good.
I hope you don';t mind me coming back with lots of questions once I get outside.  I can see this is not a case of switch on and fly.

Thanks folks
Gerard

 :welcome:

:) if you have any questions just ask, I am sure someone will pipe up

Suggestions:
1 check up on the laws/rules learn to fly legally and safely
2. What sort of thing are you wanting to fly, there are different types of quadcopters which do different thing

Thanks for the welcome.  I';ll be sure to check the laws.
As for what type of quads, at this minute I';m happy to learn to fly my Syma.  I';m sure in due course I';ll decide which way I go after listening to all you guys ~~

Welcome ... I had the same dream plains helicopters
But never got more then a hover ...
Quads or multis are great to help learn to fly with the slow progression of assisted adds removed progressively as you get better...
Good look it';s great fun

The hole helicopter spun round on my first one lucky the blades whent a bit faster so it had some lift but no control

guest325

Yup, mine got all of 6" off the ground before it bit dirt and did the chicken dance....... That was it finito!!!

nate80

lol. Sounds familiar. My first helicopter skimmed the ground for 18 feet... Then hit a wall and died.  :whistling:

I';ve had 2 heli';s since and can actually fly the most recent one after learning the basics of flight from Multi-rotors.  ~~

Welcome aboard Oldboy. The Syma is a great quad to start with. I began my Multi-rotor journey with an x5sc, which is still great fun to fly and good for refreshing skills after a few months without flying.
