Lumenier Lux - Voltage Regulator Problem?

For some reason my XSR Receiver died yesterday...
I thought it was by chance and just before pluging in a brand new one,
I thought what the hell lets just check the volt from the FC pins.....

According to manual 5V should be there but
I was getting direct current from the battery.
I have testes with 3S & 4S battery....

The FC works fine other than that.
Does anyone had this problem before?
Where is the voltage regulator on the board and how can I check it???

Elmattbo

Yes, a known problem with this board if you check on rcg. When o installed mine I didnt bother with the onboard 5v and used a separate supply.

The lux has a solder jumper on the bottom of the board for 5v doesn';t it? Have you checked that isn';t shorting across all three pads?

Trimitsos

Yes the soldering is clear.
I have been using this FC for a while.
Things got crazy after a crash

What do you mean: "a known problem"???
I';ve been using other Lux boards with out any problems.
are there reports for such problems?

Elmattbo

Yeah there';s quite a bit in rcg about it. As I said I chose to not use the onboard regulator because of it. It didn';t happen all the time and only a few reports of it, but enough for me. It to take a chance.

To be fair I think people overload the reg, I have had 4 quads running lux without issues with the regulator

oP if it was after a crash then it probably crash damage, check wiring and solder joints but otherwise I think you have to declare it a casualty and get a replacement

I have re-soldered everything but still I get Battery voltage from the Lux 5V pin.
What if I simply don';t use the internal regulator??? For instance I could use a regulator from the PDB for powering up my receiver would there be anything elese to worry about?

Elmattbo

That would be fine I think - it';s basically what i do. Just be careful not to create a ground loop anywhere.
