No English Manual

Well, despite being quite a comprehensive place to shop, HobbyKing just couldn';t come up with the goods today...

My W609-8 Hex was delivered with a UK charger, but a Chinese user manual. I googled like mad, but can';t find an English version anywhere. I emailed Huajun, but no response yet. So, I tried the online help with HK. The chap I chatted with was quick and polite, but informed me that they do not have any manuals, other than those that came in the box.

I am a bit alarmed by this. We are encouraged to read the manual before using the drone for the first time. It may be classed as a toy, but it';s a big hex, and I would still get into trouble for flying it in a manner not adhering with UK laws and guidelines, or, heaven forbid, suffer a control issue because I have not calibrated the gyros correctly... Surely the vendor should take some responsibility to ensure its customers are fully provided for?

I';ve fed back my concerns to HK and I will continue to search for an English manual. In the meantime, if anyone has any info on calibrating and/or using the altitude lock, return to home setup, or anything else, I will be more than grateful!

If you google "W609-8  rcgroups" there';s probably more than enough info in the posts and video revies to get you going.

least it came in entirely Chinese format.

worse is when they';ve done a half arsed job of translating it and most newcomers to the multirotor scene will just "muddle through" taking guesses at what the translation "meant".

Least if its all Chinese your pretty much forced to search out an English version rather than "chancing" the bad translations.

Well,that';s why we have smartphones.Take a picture of text and translate it with Google translate.Better than nothing

P. S. There';s an option in Google translate to take a picture and then you just highlight desired text (with finger) and app will read text from picture and translate it.

That';s another good idea - using Google translate. I';ll give it a go and see how if fares.

I did find an image of the transmitter online, complete with English words, but the left and right were mixed up, so, when I hit the button to take a video, the thing tried to flip when I crabbed left. I was a bit surprised, but was also only hovering about 8 feet up and it came down a bit heavy, bending one of the skids. A bit of brute force straightened it up again and I';m back to normal service.

I';ve figured out the high/low rates, but can';t get the alt hold and return to base functions working. Got some new batteries on order, too. The most important thing is that I';m enjoying it... Which I am.... In buckets!

Thanks for that, Steve. I had found similar pages, so adding the info from your suggestion to the others I';d found has given me enough to get going with.

I can';t seem to get the Return Home or Fixed Height modes to work correctly, but this could be due to me flying in a relatively small area. Now I';ve got a few more batteries I';ll take it to the flying field and let it go a bit more.

Well, I finally got a reply from Ali at Huajun. They apologised for the delay in responding and admitted that they missed the email. While I';m a bit disappointed it took so long, I';m happy that they admitted their mistake and apologised. A refreshing change in a world where blame is king.... 

So, I now have the pdf version of the English user manual for a W609-8 Pathfinder 2 hexacopter.  ::)

I';ve been looking for this manual for a couple of weeks and I';d given up all hope.

I picked the hex up for £16 as it was. There';s obviously been a crash as one of the blue props has been replaced with a white one. After firing it up it was apparent that the replacement was the wrong prop so I replaced it.

Away visiting family at the moment, but will have her in the air by Monday (my first ever rc of my own).

Hopefully next week I';ll have the gonads to get my 450 in the air!
