Dont think anyone is happy with the EASA proposal.. but they have a way to go yet...  also UK CAA has to adopt them, which they may or may not in their current form...

Is this the case? I thought EASA regulations went quite literally above and beyond CAA and that it automatically applies to all European airspace?

Yep the way it has always worked.. you have regional variations, that said the UK CAA dont have much resource these days and are likely to follow EASA

Lets hope calmer heads prevail when deciding the rules, or the CAA keep things as they are.

I';m all for making the hobby safer, not killing it.

I';ll  assume that not many forum members caught the news about proposed new drone regs  as it was on radio 4.
What a load of waffle, the person advocating  licensing and an exam  out lined the proposals and gave the reasons it won';t work at the same time,  as always it boiled down to you can';t legislate against morons/idiots /fkucwits... It was claimed there were over 50 drone incidents this year, have any of these been confirmed.???
It was mentioned that home constructors have a greater knowledge of the subject, but how can an  a/c be registered if it';s rebuilt  ..
What was really noticable was the voice of the B.M.F.A.  the formost organization  supporting and defending  r/c fliers  was totaly absent, still if their heads are so far up their own ar$eholes i dobut they  heard. :banghead:

Didn';t hear the radio version, but here is a small (and pretty vague) report by the BBC.

Another thing, I fume when I hear govmint "experts" blaming the melt-down in the inhumane G4S prison regime in the UK on "legal-highs" AND DRONES!

How many DRONES have been successfully been flown into prison grounds?  Three or four?  OK, 10.....Being generous.  Please.

Riots in prisons are due to people being treated like animals, not legal highs and drones.

But for your standard model UK citizen, its DRONES.

They must think we are stupid.

Oh wait.....

"making drones electronically identifiable so the owner's details can be passed to police if they are spotted breaking the law"

I can already see how that one will go. Basically just try fine anyone and force them to defend themselves.
This whole thing reeks of making money from pointless administration!
