I think i know why i built a tricopter, so simple, no gps no frills, cheap to build, stable and so natural in the air, i think the word is "graceful"

! No longer available

Stunning video and location.

From one extreme to another, this caught my eye this week, well worth a watch,,,,, crazy and fast and very very dangerous  ::)

Very true, also think about the fact that David doesn';t use a gimbal - it';s a testament to how good his setup is.
He also uses his Gopro for fpv to do all of his filming, lag doesn';t seem to affect his flying.

Saleem

He ran across a wall of a crumbling building with at least 2-3 story fall on the other side?

His flying is great but he messed up on a silly thing, shows how crap we can all fly also!

Ontop that hes got a quad that flys ffs!stay on ground and fly it why does one go up high, like the climb was part of the buzz/entertainment?perhaps it would be better to watch his death video on liveleak?
  :o

iRobot

It must be a buzz, but and it';s all for entertainment

I do like most videos, you see how tranquil and smooth that tri copter flys, in an amazing location, and it';s impossible to fault,,,, but there';s no danger lol

That footage is amazing for sure.  What an amazing place to live.

There is a muddy green fishing pond near me surrounded by a sewage works, that won';t look pretty even if I did film it at dawn.  Capturing some staffies scampering around isn';t going to be the same as the deer, even if they are wearing blingy collars.

So, that guy Tom Smith....I have been thinking about this guy since I saw the factory footage the other day and I am TORN as to how I feel about it.

On the one hand I think the footage is amazing as is his flying.  The guy has so much energy and get-up-and-go-ness I am in AWE of it.  I wish I had that.

I might well have been that crazy in my young days, well, even then probably not crazy enough to do what he did in the factory.

That was just insanely reckless.

With just a little bit more imagination anybody could imagine what might happen if they did fall...nobody knowing you were there...You could be there for weeks and die.  Simple. I guess when your young your invincible..

One thing that I am particularly convoluted with is his flying is very reckless.  It really does give this hobby a very bad image and encourages dem yout dem to push the boundaries of reckless flying as far as possible.  This triggers my "old bloke" sensibilities button and make the red light come on....

However these days with fewer and fewer way that young people can rebel and express themselves in this super-controlling nightmare of social engineering we call life in the UK.  With my Anarchist hat on, I am inclined to say good luck to him.  Its an empty corporate HQ.  So what?  Sod them.   Seeing a quad being flown like that will enrich the lives of anybody who witnesses it in so many ways.

Tricky one indeed....I have a little ethical melt-down every time I watch his vids.

Two-six,
I think i have to agree with just about every word you typed, not defending Tom but wonder if he chose to climb to highest point to get full signal to do the flight, but as you said if he had fallen it does makes you wonder what the outcome would have been.

Now the tricopter video, still think thats one of the nicest vids ever and all flown about a foot of the ground, mostly
