I helped my dad clear some stuff out of his garage recently and ended up with an old 12V Halogen lamp with a weird connector.
I already have something similar but never use it so was close to putting this in the shed of never return but then I blew an ESC on some strange motor issue.

While trying to avoid doing it again I thought it would be nice to have something that would drop some volts in an error condition.
I don';t think this would actually save an esc issues but boy is it useful while playing with flight controllers.
Leave the lamp on your lap and connect/disconnect the battery with a thumb. The lamp never does anything unless there was a heavy load on and then it would hopefully just go into low battery fail mode.

Sorry for the rubbish heatshrink etc as I only intended to use it for about five minutes.
And yes I do have a current limited power supply but the issue I hit was on a motor run over what my PSU will sink.

Ah a smoke stopper

Also useful for detecting shorts when a machine is plugged in for the first time.

From memory stick to 3s (though it does depend upon the bulb used)

Yeah they used to be used in quite a few places for surge handling but I';d never bothered on RC, the switch was the only bit I hadn';t considered putting in line, like this it';s a bit of a two purpose item, the switch being the more useful.
I hate seeing people online connecting some huge high C battery to their new build with no fuse in-line.

Lost a motor when a ESC went on the fritz, the 180 bulb from Halfords was considerably than a motor or ESC :(
