Seem to remember a post about someone only being able to use one hand, might have dreamed it, reality is so unstable.This might help.

You didn';t dream it. I also read it... I think it was a new member post, but I can';t remember who..

Looks like a good solution, with a number of ways of getting controlled flight off just 3 channels.. or 4, even. How about:

Idea 1:
4-Channel. Mode 2 - left stick height, with altitude hold. Use the regular ';throttle'; control to get to desired height, but have the control set to auto-hover with the stick centred. Then use the right stick for normal pitch/roll, with the rotation set as yaw.

Idea 2:
3-channel. Use the rotation on the right stick for throttle and then mix the yaw and roll to allow the drone to always face forward when turning. Pitch remains unchanged.

I';m sure that there are a load of other ideas for this too.

Just had another thought... How about a single-handed, 4-channel controller:
Think of a 3-axis joystick. The type a lot of us use for flight sims. X and Y are roll and pitch, as you';d expect, with Z rotation as yaw. All normal, BUT add a throttle control to to where the trigger normally is. If you remove the spring, and include a loop, so you can push or pull the button, you can then set throttle/hover/alt and fly totally with one hand in contact with all 4 primary control inputs.

I think Mode 4 or Mode 1 would probably work best, depending on whether the pilot is Left or right handed.
Mode 4: Throttle and Aileron LH stick and Elevator and Rudder RH Stick:- this would work for Right handed.
If you had an APM or Pixhawk you could use Position hold and move it around with the RH stick.
Mode 1, Rudder and Elevator LH Stick and Throttle and Aileron RH stick:- this would work for Left handed.
If you had an APM or Pixhawk you could use Position hold and move it around with the LH stick.

As I understand it  you can assign each of the channels, so elevator as normal (mode 2) ailerons as normal, and throttle on the stick rotate function.
So turn throttle up to take off,  get to height ,go GPS or alt hold,  then fly yer nuts off.

I have absolutely no viable need for this 9x add-on......












but I recently purchased a 9x so Im sat here trying to think up a "viable" reason that sounds feasable enough that the missus wont argue about when I buy it anyway.

well duh of course Im gonna get one, its just a small matter of making the missus believe getting one was a absolute necessity... or better still...beneficial to her in some way.....


......I wonder if she';d believe it was some form of remote control add-on for the dishwasher and washing machine?

OK, for future use, set up new bank and PayPal accounts. If your wife asks why you';d do such a thing, just tell her it';s to enable you to get surprises for her, without her accidentally stumbling across the purchases when she';s checking the joint account!
