Arducopter.com gone :(

Arducopter have got rid of the old Arducopter.com website and replaced it with Ardupilot.org and the wikia with all the apm instructions etc is gone.

Basically, a whole wealth of resources for APM has been removed now they have stopped supporting APM.

I Suppose now that pixhawk has replaced APM and most of the APM';s being sold are chinese clones it makes some sense, but for anyone with older kit who still used the reference they will have to find an alternate source for the information now.

The forums are closing this weekend, and I am guessing all the APM stuff will be removed from there as well.

Real Shame :(

Thank god for the Guide on this site!

Gaza07

That is going to be a huge loss of valuable information and a real shame  anyone who made any posts there with valuable info please feel free to make the same posts here even if we can retain a small portion of the info contained there its gotta be better than nothing  ~~  :beer2:

I am guessing all the firmware will be gone as well, so anyone wanting to flash a new apm board is going to be dead in the water.

Well the firmware is still available http://firmware.ardupilot.org/Copter/stable/

I can';t believe they';ve done this! The new website doesn';t appear to have half the information the old wikipedia website had. This will make setting up my pixhawk much trickier in the future.

Is there a way someone could archive the previous site somewhere?

This is bad news indeed.  The Ardupilot forum says its moving to new servers, nothing about deleting the historic APM content ... So I';m hoping thats the case...

We can hope that they return the old .com site after the weekend but I somehow doubt it, the setup resource there for transmitters etc was all valid for pixhawk as well.

Having had a browse a lot more of it is there just harder to find due to the menus.

Hands0n

Just in case ... I have harvested the .hex firmwares for APM.

The attached .zips contains AC 3.2 and AC 3.2.1 for all models of multi-rotor support.

Can you not just pull up the cached version from Google search results?

Worked yesterday morning, but not a long term solution.

There are  some rumours that 3dr are about to go buns up,  the much promoted Solo just hasn';t lived up to the hype. There are other craft coming onto the market that are not having the teething problems the Solo has. Most of them are still selling spare batteries at  ripoff price.
On the up side there should be some next gen  controllers
around this year. :crossfingers:
(Typical I get  reasonably proficient with some Tec and its retired)
Reptile folder , alien 500 , F/ Shark Attitudes,

The new formatting is horrible. Everything takes up half my screenspace horizontally meaning I have to do twice as much scrolling. It appears to have most of the same info only less well organised and formatted as before.

Websites that format themselves to force you to waste monitor space are a pet hate of mine. I paid good money for my monitor I didn';t do that so that some web developer could throw half the space away because of some formatting requirement.

There is a flood of APM2 flight controllers on the market. Right now has never been a better time to buy of you don';t need software past AC3.2.1 which meant folk won';t. 3.2.1 is very capable indeed.  The APM2 FCs are in a number of formats and sizes to suit all build.

I wouldn';t advise against APM at all :)

I dont really know how to set up APM, but i am trying to learn and still think its one of the best for safe and steady flying, i think i will still go for the f550 kit once my 450 has sold

The best place I know for arducopter resources is Peter King';s Google drive - this link comes from DIY drones and is his link for anyone who wants to use it. There are complete load and play setups that only need fine tuning to your own taste; I used his setups exclusively when I used Crius AIOP fc, never had to change anything.
