Armattan Tilt Hex build

So, after an unfortunately hard landing with my 650 quad, I thought I';d go for a smaller, cheaper build while I properly thought about my larger hex plans... and I managed to make it smaller. Cheaper... well, jury';s still out on that  ::)

Not my first build, then, but my first tiny build - be gentle!

Being a big quad/hex person, the transition to tiny things like this has been hard, but satisfying. I originally built this with as many parts off the big quad as I could, which went as well as you';d expect - a Pixhawk barely fits into the under-battery space and had no room for damping, and the other bits and bobs really wouldn';t fit. It flew, but awkwardly. So I switched out for a Seriously Pro F3 which seems to be working nicely, and has just enough room to sit on a damping pad. The Armattan frame has a clean/dirty design but I was still concerned about vibration with six motors.

Next step is to tidy up the motor/ESC leads and figure out what to do with the rear ESCs - mounting them on the bottom, I have to remove the landing gear to get them to sit flush, which isn';t ideal. Thinking I might have to move them back a bit but securing them becomes problematic then as I can';t get a cable tie around them and I';m loathed to do it with just sticky-back foam/double-sided tape - any suggestions/comments?

That';s looking really nice
It';s getting there! Flattering angle, I think - it';s less pretty underneath. The time and care required to get the cable management done perfectly... well, waiting for everything to be the final things to install first. I still need to source a buzzer and solder on the wiring for the sonar I have (slightly annoyed I can';t use the PulsedLight LIDAR, but that';ll go on my huge frankenhex), and replace the ridiculous VTX and step-down converter for 12V with some smaller models. I also need to replace the X8R RX for something smaller!

looking good there ~~ ive just made the same transition from large quads to small hex

my layout is very similar to yours in that the frame isnt a X. i ended up setting the flight controller to u6 / v6  rather than a x6.

if you have set it to x6 how does it fly?
