Please guys help me on that! i test phandom 2 and was very stable like a rock!!
on my crius v2 multiwii V2 Hexa f550 with litle air drifting. PIDs are set preatty good. What is wrong?!  :banghead: 2 years i try to make a quad and is not stable! i have try averything, PID different frames , weights..... calibration, mag/acc prop balanced etc etc. WTF!!!!

i see some videos with same setupo very stable!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

What esc are you using ? I found this can have a vast effect on the stability.
Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

Hi Commando, those ESCs and motors are more than capable. I';ve build a number of 450';s with those ESCs which have been rock solid in the air.

When you say its ';not stable'; are you referring to its ability to stay at one point in the air? or do you mean its oscillating?

If it flies well (i.e. the PIDs are good) and its more an issue with maintaining altitude and position, its most likely down to the tuning and accuracy of the barometer and GPS.

From my experience a couple of years back, I changed from MultiWii flight control to a Naza, it went from sloppy position hold to a being an absolute rock in the sky. The reason for this is that the my Naza had better sensors and algorithms for maintaining position.

This was my Naza controlled 450 last year, running the same ESCs as you and some cheap motors from HK:

And here it is now with the same Naza controller, but upgraded motors and escs:

They are both solid.

So potential things to think about:

  • Upgrade the Flight Controller - For autopilot style flying then DJI Naza, APM, Pixhawk are some of the best
  • Keep your flight controller - Look at upgrading the GPS receiver, Update the flight control firmware to the latest revision, do some tuning on altitude and position hold parameters.
