Got the weight inc mobius but not battery, down to 380g. According to Soma on rcgroups they';ll develop about 600g of thrust per motor with the 5x4.5 bull nose props on, that';s up from 470g on 5x4 on the dys 1806 2300kv. They';ll draw just over 15.4amps and 189w at full throttle so I';ll need to be careful as the motors are rated for 15amps and 180w.

Spec - all from Phil unless stated otherwise

250pro frame
4x Cobra 2204 2300KV (boltrc.co.uk)
5x4.5 Bullnose props
Acro Naze
4x DYS 20a mini escs
Hites Minima 6ch receiver (t9hobbysport)
1500 35-70C Nanotech lipo (HK)
Fatshark 600tvl camera + tx (Proflight as they let me try the whole setup first)
Mobius or gopro style camera (Phil for the mobius, argos for the gopro)

Along with Forest amd Revs I';ve been building my 250pro (from Phil) this past week and successfully maidened it this past Friday. Held up well in the very gusty wind (but glorious sunshine).

The frame was a doddle to put together and my soldering skills are getting better, so getting the escs attached to the pdb was a doddle. Used 30mm nylon bolts and a thin nut to keep it off the frame. The bolts were also used to attach the Acro Naze.

Sorting the motors out I made a slight error. Don';t ask me how because I swear I checked it, connected 2 Esc wires together instead of to the motor and on testing the motors a small hiss and smell was created. Swapped it out with another esc and that';s ok now.

Completed the rest of the frame and now just doing some LOS flying before putting my Fpv kit on it.

Really stable out of the box, just a little subtrimming needed as there is a slight forward drift. Need to make the yaw a bit more responsive as well (guess my tri';s have spoiled me there).

Spec - all from Phil unless stated otherwise

250pro frame
4x DYS 1806 2300kv motors
Acronaze
Emax BLheli 12a escs
Hites Minima 6ch receiver (t9hobbysport)
1500 35-70C Nanotech lipo (HK)

To be added:
Fatshark 600tvl camera + tx (Proflight as they let me try the whole setup first)
Mobius or gopro style camera (yet to be bought)

Jobs List

Attach fpv.
Neaten up the motor and esc wires with some paracord.
Ziptie/heatshrink on the Rx wires.
Buy a mobius or gopro to mount on top.

Current FPV set up.

Have bought a gopro hero 3+silver. Now where to mount it?

Move the FPV to the top deck and have the gopro at the front? Put the go pro on the top deck?

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks Forest! Importing can be a risky business. When I got my FPV stuff I bought from Proflight in Halifax. They let me test the stuff first which was worth the extra I paid over importing a set. Still when you get it set up it';s a load of fun.

Now put another 4 batteries through it. 2x Turnigy blue 1600mah 30-40c and 2x 1500mah 40-75c nanotechs. The blues are a bit pants. It flies well enough but lacks the obvious punch due to the lower C rating. Still useful for cruising FPV rather than fast flying and tuning.

The nanotechs are a blast. Had great fun bobbing over grassy fields (not gone near trees yet!!!). The fatsharks were excellent and the 600tvl camera was good even in the dying light (flew around 5.30 under grey skies).

Flew all the above on Horizon mode. Next 4 batteries will be just acro LOS practice.

Been tweaking the settings following Oscar Liang';s blog and http://www.armattanquads.com/mullet-naze-fc-tutorials/

Which goggles did you get?

I';ve got the Predator V2s and they are ok, the image is good though. Maybe one day I';ll look at some of the more expensive goggles...

Altitude  v2 I used them today well tried to. I didn';t last more than a min! I ended up very high and no clue which way to go....  Feck

I was a bit disappointed. I thought I was getting more than a tiny screen and In  sun light the colour was shot it was to orangey.. They are fine colour wise when it';s cloudy.

It certainly wasn';t easier to fly as I';ve seen some say. Range wasn';t that good when I walked off I';ve got cloverleaf but need a elbow sma

If you can get yourself somewhere like a cricket/footie/rugby pitch or somewhere with big visual references so you can orientate yourself more easily. When I started I found flying over the wicket and back again helped me get to grips with it.

I find my Attitudes to be pretty good, have you tried fiddling around with the contrast and brightness?  In the early days, I accidentally pushed the button on top without realising, things went very dark & pasty, couldn';t figure out why!  Doh.  It';s also worth playing around with your fpv cam settings, if they are changeable, that is.

That is odd.  If your cam can be adjusted, it';ll have a tiny control on the back, but more common now is a break-out board with the control on that, so you can disconnect it for lightness.
I think it may just be simply getting used to fpv, what camera are you using BTW?

nice m8 ive just put a new cam (runcam pz 28mm) on mine much better now, that fs cmos cam was the problem  ive tidied a few bits up on mine now and im more than happy i changed out all the alloy stand offs for nylon and all the screws ive saved sth like 7 grams  and ive shortened all wires  for a few grams lol  all to get a bit more time,

i like the cam mount how much did pickles charge for those? ive got mine on nylon screws so i can adjust it as i get faster but once im there i will need one of those

what size props do you use ? ive been using the hq 5x4 which are great more speed and lift than the 5x3 and not as fragile as 6x3s
heres a pic of mine now  i still have some wiring to do fo the fpv kit is a bit messy there still i will make a loom for it i think now i know all the wires i need

Send pickles a pm and he can talk you through the 3D print. He';s very good.

I need to shorten all the wires at some point, but considering how much I reuse bit from other projects, I';m rather loathe to, just in case I need it for something else. I';ve got a new project I';m working on where learning how to do short wires correctly will be the skill that I learn.

And yeah, 5x4 props, although getting some bull nose props from phil today that will be even more powerful... will need to check the amps on them though. Don';t  want to blow an esc!!

Standard 5030 next to a Bullnose 5045

A point of consideration is that they will make the motor draw more current, even compared to a normal 5045 prop due to the increased surface area.  My EMAX MT2204 2300Kv draw just over 12A on full throttle with these babies on.

Phil sells them here.
