I finally have started to build FROM SCRATCH my (own!) design ET type quad. It';s roughly 600mm offset X, ally T window frame arms, ally checkplate body, and stainless nuts & bolts (it';s all I have at hand!) I will post pics once complete, of build processes. I have some sunnyskys and 30a Afros and carbon props (banggood joblot fair bit of sanding involved!) I have a kk initially to set up and see, then it will recieve the infamous flip32GPS!!
I have no working plans. I';ve just cut up the arms and laid them on the table and gone from there.
Let';s see what happens.
Any MUST DO';s in relation to build much appreciated.  ~~

All I ever use is a level and a tape! Needless to say everything is bob on and uniform!

so far ........
I won';t be using ally again. My hand is killing from using the tinsnips all morning then using the pot rivière. I can see that I may need to stop the flex a little more but haven';t got a clue how to!! YET. So far I';m happy with the result.

I wasn';t joking when I said I was building from scratch. Any idea how this lot goes together.  :hmm: I got four to build, then there is the soldering of the PDB. Oh and an imminent house move in 7weeks.
Any body got any boxes?  :o
To pack or to build - that is the question!!  :azn

The only problem i found with ally, is that you';re forever bending it back into shape after a er...';unplanned'; landing.  It';s certainly a real scratch build tho DL.

  what you saying  :slap:
ALL my landings ARE planned.
It';s the timing that';s not!  :whistling:  ~~

I have tried bending a leg. It';s hard going. The platform on the other hand will might need rererecycling at some point.

Yeah, lol!  It';s the combo of torsion/shock that bends stuff.   ~~ I thought My ally arms were tough, until it bit dirt!
Major bendfest, never get them straightened out.

It works! On the bench that is. These sunnyskys have a nice whistle to them. I';m not going for tidy. I may do that next time. Now I need some good weather so I can test flight.
If you can';t see in the pics, the motors are fastened with one SS nyloc and a zippy, pretty solid fix.
We';ll see.......

Too heavy for 8" props :whistling:  :hmm: AUW 1200g or 1.2kg I can';t remember.

WHAT!!..... It';s all I had to hand.

I';ll order some tens then.  :slap:
Could also get away with 12s - leaves a inch clear. Or is that too much for the motors?

10x4.5 with those motors, not heard of anyone getting away with anything bigger.
The only other option is  4S with 8" possibly  9" but that would be pushing it!
