So I had a bit of spare time today which soon turned into boredom so I nipped to Maplin and bought the needed things and got my teeth into making some antennas. Pretty damn easy to be fair and all done in about 3hours. I';ve tested them and all is good. Now just to take her out for a fly at the weekend to test distance. Really quite proud of myself

Nice! Very satisfying building stuff yourself that works eh? Pretty rare in my case.

If you want to strengthen those up add a blob of clear epoxy over the weak points. Quidland sell some that will do the trick. Over that for a nice some black liquid electrical tape looks good

it just makes sense

Andy-E - Your shopping list would be good to get a look at, passing maplin tomorrow.

It is very satisfying mate I love it.
I was going to put hot glue on it but I heard it reduces the signal so I';m leaving it naked

Well mine is for fat shark 5.8ghz so I got:
2 reverse polarity SMA plugs RG58 £2.89 each
1 meter of RG58 coaxial cable £1.49
They do have copper wire on small rolls all different thicknesses but it';s £9 per roll and only needed about 10inch so I stole some mig welding wire from a friends garage.
The rest is just solder and heat shrink which I already had.

Andy-E

They didn';t have any RG316 which would';ve been better
