Align and Taranis = puzzeled

Hi to all
New to the forum but looking forward to getting involved. Me I used to fly years ago and now happily back into the hobby like many I am sure bought a DJI phantom and wanted more.

Apologies for starting with a problem, I have an Align M690 Hex and a Taranis X9D with the X8R receiver, so far so good.... now the problem can';t get the receiver to successfully talk to the hex, I am using the SBus connector on the receiver to the Sbus on the APS-M module, connecting through the software is flakey to say the least,.
Align show in the manual a section on Transmitter and Receiver choice which is not on the version 2 of the software.
in satellite binding I have the choice of conventional, Futaba Sbus, Spektrum / JR sat DSM2, Spektrum SAT DSMX, JR DMSS remote ant, JR X bus, Flysky I Bus.
I did try the Futaba Sbus and after cycling the hex the binding went to pot and when it finally bound all the switches and sticks in the calibration software were all over the place move a throttle and the failsafe, POI, HCL Gear were all bouncing about.
Does any one have any ideas on this.

As far as the  X8R receiver, I believe it';s Sbus is 100% compatible with Futaba Sbus
Just remember to bind the taranis in D16 mode

Can';t help with the APS-M settings I';m afraid

Thanks Alan N

I have been talking with a guy who represents Align in the UK (I think) he knows the Align product but not the transmitter, he has suggested to try and set it up as flysky I bus ? worth a go latter, or if that does not work buy a module that that matches one oFf Align list in the software.
So something else to look into, I am old school so the last time I played with set ups we had different coloured chips/crystal that plugged into the transmitters so we could fly long long ago so Sbus and Bindng are new to me.

Many Thanks

I don';t have the X8 but if I understand it correctly you need a signal inverter between the RX module and the FC.

AlanN

You may also have to Set the "min" and "max" in the servos screen on the Taranis  to -80%, 80% instead of 100% which can be interpreted as something in the region of 120% by some fc';s.  Not sure if that would cause your bouncing about

Of course if the signal is inverted I guess all bets are off

Hi Barney G

That is something for me to look into getting there slowly as like I have mentioned its all new to me, give me a computer controlled automated sortation system and I know where I am but flying has certainly changed.

Many Thanks for the ideas

Hi Alan N

Something else to try later the bouncing was slightly mental as a stick or switch input cased more or less every input on the screen to change, the gimbal was just having a spin and set all the time, but in amongst this daft as it seems there was some sort of gimbal control up/down and left/right were happening but not responsive

Many thanks for the ideas

AlanN

It sounds more serious than just the end point values being too high... you could try using the pwm pins instead of the sbus and see what happens, even just 1 channel and see what changes
