Hi all,

I am currently flying a quad and have been for a few seasons now...

Its a dead cat layout running 4 cells yada yada...

I am looking to get a Hex as I want to hang a gimbal and gopro (possibly a heavier camera) from the bottom.

Budget is not a massive issue and I plan to use my Naza-M and radio gear from the quad.

I';m basically after a kit with motors and esc';s....

What do you recommend ?

Thanks in advance

Gib.

You could check out RcTimer as they have some damn good Hex con figs.

If you';re feeling brave, check out the Tarot 680 Pro!

Now that';s a damn good hex! Lotsa building but its dammed good!

Check out all of the vids on YouTube.

Wishlist - Tarot FY680 Pro

Cloudbuster

Tarot 680 pro for me too !!!! Emax 3510 mtrs and 30 amp esc ... You wont go wrong with this frame, good all rounder that will lift up to a mid size cam like sony nex. Great with gopro and will give excellent flight times from 4s batts... I use the cheapo turnigy 5000 mah turnigy batts from hobbyking at about 15quid a pop !!! If you want to hang even bigger cam go for the new X6 frame which is simply awsome !!!

I bought a hex last year (dji f550 with naza lite) just because I could (I was off sick an needed something to do), it';s a different animal to fly, in a good way, ideal camera ship, I am keeping it just because it';s big and stable, and I can mount just about anything I want on it.

But, it made me realise, I love the smaller quads, having built a fast 250 before all the frames came out and the real interest in them started, that is where my passion for the hobby lies. I also like keeping my options open!

I can recommend the dji f550, I have been flying dji equipment for over 2 years and have not had a part failure yet, (operator error, yes) for less than £250 you can get an ARTF hex inc fc and gps with easy configuration (quadcopters.co.uk) shameless plug I know, but they have helped me no end.

Everyone has their favourite brand/supplier, you can mix and match till your heart is content.

Just one more thing with the dji f550,if you can get it with the 10x3.8 props rather than the 10x4.5, in my experience gives longer flight times and less vibration and a much higher climb rate ( even after balancing the props).

Just saying!

i think with current pricing, the DJI 550 is a good choice, i had a WKM since they first came out, to this day ( touch wood ) never an issue that was not my fault, the same goes for my Phantom and Nazas, at the end of the day speaking from my experience only, its all about reading the manual, as imho the DJI manual is pretty upto scratch for dealing with setting up, and so long as you make sure everything is functioning within the assistant prior to flying, you cant go wrong with them.

Im abit like yourself concerning the 250`s, it wouldnt be worth me selling the WKM now, but did at one point consider it, as the 250`s are simply fun to fly, a totally different flying experience, but i still like to get the camera out and take the WKM out, but teh smaller quads do get used more now.

I kind of echo what';s been said above, I have a 550 with a fixed mount for a GoPro (or clone).  It has a Naza v2 onboard, and I have no complaints, in fact, I love flying it, as although it has the gopro on, it is a remarkably lively beast, and has the power to do stuff that a 250 will not (unless maybe a 4 cell version).  In terms of adrenalin, I find it far more scary to throw around, simply because of it';s size.
I deliberately made the camera mount fixed to capture the pitching and rolling of the machine in flight.

I';ve got a dji f 550 with naza v2, built it over Christmas. Was easy too build and set up, very stable in the air, I seem to only go out on windy days on gps mode it stays there spot on.
The only thing I find at times is that it has too much power or is it my heavy thumbs
