Swapped out the CC3D and replaced with an Acro Naze32, and took a quarter of the time to set up and have its first Kitchen hover :) and it went well, bit sluggish, but have improved that now, hopefully when the wind dies down later, can try some proper flight and see how it goes.

But also while the bottom plate was off to fit the stand-offs, added more LEDS to the front and rear :)

Looks good with the led front and rear. Once I have some more wire I';ll be adding more leds to the arms too. Hopefully joining you swaping my CC3D for a naze early next week.

Guys just put cleanflight on your CC3D.

No need to swap to a Naze32, should work just as well.

Somehow it does not seem quite that simple lol

have you done this evil act? im trying but i havent got a usb to uart adaptor (whatever that is)

the latest versions of configurator and firmware apparently support using the usb port on the board, but i cant get it to work on my win8.1 machine

so far have flashed latest cleanflight to cc3d via openpilot gcs
downloaded vcp drivers, think ive installed them as i went through the wizard and all seemed to complete ok.

installed latest configurator but when i try to connect i only get option to connect via com1, and it times out.
im powering the board with a ubec as suggested on other forums but still no joy.
on my device manager the board is showing as having no drivers, when i try to install manually by clicking on the destination of the vcp files nothing happens and no drivers are loaded.

tried rebooting pc with board powered and connected.

tried praying to bill gates, no answer.

has anyone managed to connect to cc3d with a usb on cleanflight yet?

:embarrassed No but I know it can be done

A USB to UART is just something that converts the USB magic to the serial magic. There is one built into the NAZE32 but not on the CC3D.

As for the VCP drivers I don';t know what is required here, it depends a lot on how the VCP is implemented in the cleanflight code, not looked into that side yet as I have no need for it.

Sorry Can';t help much here.

success! a clever dude on openpilot forum threw up a link to these drivers

http://www.driversguru.com/hardwareid-USB---VID_0483-_-PID_5740

i installed them, powered the board using a 5v bec, system manager recognised the board and the drivers as COM5 so thought i';d try the configurator and lo and behold there it was, COM5 able to connect! now running cleanflight on a CC3D and accessing through the usb port :)

Sweet Pickle

Really disliked CC3D so just flashed cleanflight to mine. Glad you posted the driver link above as I was having the same problem as you without it.
Can';t decide what to plonk it on now.
Decisions decisions.

I';m loving the cc3d still, it was a bit of a mission getting it set up as per the openpilot forum uov/mixer/optune method but it';s handling superbly now I think. Cleanflight flashing has made me feel like I';m cheating on my first love a bit. Was only on a spare board I thought was toast so not going to be moving my darling minime board out of my 250 just yet. Like the GCS too much for that
