So the wind was calm this morning, I couldn';t put it off any longer, time for my first real flight ( apart from Pheonix 5 sim ) Unfortunately it didn';t last long :embarrassed I think it threw a prop?? as one of the nuts was missing when I picked it up and like a fool I didn';t take any spares with me  :embarrassed

Here';s the Video

I did Loctite the screws for the adapters to the motors but thought the prop nuts would be OK :embarrassed The one that was missing was from a CW motor so I';m thinking the brush with the tree just after T/O might of loosened it and then as I was bringing it back to land (ironicaly to check for any loose screws/nuts etc)  the nut spun off followed by the prop?? So I';ve asked a friend to make me some L/H threaded adapters

Nice maiden Nige, shame about the ending.  Is that a Hex?  What FC?  Usually a Hex will survive the loss of one motor/prop, albeit a bit untidily. The video doesn';t show it but did it crash or just make a rough landing?

Yes it';s a 550 ebay cloned hex frame, with Turnigy 28-26 1200kv 10x4.5 props (3S 5500mah) with an APM 2.6 clone, It actually lost two props #1 & 3 it just seemed to drop and tumbled through a tree taking out the remaining props :( Next flight will be in area free of trees, till I get the hang of it :)

Ah, losing two props is not such a cool idea   Are you new to flying or is it just the new aircraft?  I only ask because you seemed to fly really high pretty much straight off. In either case I would suggest keep low and close until you';re happy with how its handling. Then push out further.

My usual routine for a maiden is a low flight, kept around 50 meters from where I stand. Just a short one, then bring it back for a practical inspection, looking for anything shaking itself loose or abrading frame or wires. That kind of stuff.

Good luck on the next flight ~~  Onward and upward

New to MR but I';ve been flying a multiplex EasyGlider Pro intermittently for 18 Months and have just finished a Multiplex FunCub  I was intending to keep it lower for the first flight but got a bit carried away with it as it seemed quite stable, but next time I will keep it closer and in a non wooded area! Just waiting for the replacement props & adapters, I';ve run the motors up and they all seem good no vibration
