Tarot 2-D Gimbal RC Issue

Folks,

Bought a Tarot T-2D gimbal and fitted my SJ4000 to it.

It worked fine out of the box but when I tried to update the firmware to 1.5, It went crazy! Sorted that out by going to version 1.4.

Now trying to setup the tilt function of my Taranis an X8R receiver.

Receiver is configured for 16 channels. Have CH10 setup to he left slider (LS) and this is confirmed in the Channel Monitor on the Taranis. It works if I plug in a servo.

I have also plugged in cables according to the following video;

However, I get no tilt control in the Gimbal software and no movement on the gimbal.

Any ideas?

I have the Tarot 2D but unfortunately not a Taranis. That being said the wiring shown in the video is correct. I';m using a Futaba 9C and tilt works fine. If a servo plugged into Channel 10 on your RX works, but the gimbal doesn';t move and/or you don';t see the values change in the R/C monitor of the Tarot software then something is amiss. If you have a second RX (or a complete TX/RX from another craft) you could try that to help sort it out? I would also double check the Tarot wiring, especially the ground.

I';ve found V1.5 firmware is quite a bit better that V1.4. If you can get the Tarot working with V1.5 it is worth the effort. The ';micro-jitters'; are just about gone in 1.5 and you don';t lose the horizon when yawing the copter. Two things to remember when upgrading:

1. You have to update both the gimbal AND the motor firmware. (It';s easy to forget to do the motors)

2. You have to do a calibration after the upgrade. Remember the camera must face UP (not forward) just as shown in the video.

Good luck, sorry I couldn';t offer much more other than the fact it really does work. It';s always possible there';s a problem with the controller too - hope you get it sorted out.

I only upgraded the controller firmware and didn';t do the motors.  I will give that a go. I will also double check my wiring.

Update!

1.5 loaded! Took a couple of goes but it';s loaded now.

Next to get manual tilt sorted.

AsI';ve said, 1.5 works well but still can';t get the Tilt to work on my Taranis!I have checked it wit 2 different receivers now.

I have the receiver setup in Mode 4 that gives me SBUS on channels 1-8 and 9-16 as normal. On one of my quads I have CH9 setup as Gear and that works fine. Have setup Ch10 and plugged the gimbal into that channel. Nothing!



I have plugged the white lead into row CTR middle pin and the black wire into the bottom row right pin. I have then plugged the other end into CH10 of the X8R receiver. Still nothing.

Ideas please!

In the tarot software you have two modes for tilt.

I wanted mine to work on a switch so it would autopan down to vertical look and then back up when switch thrown back

for that to work i had to select tilt mode 2

You may want to look at that in the software.

I will do but most say that the way I';ve set it up with a slider on my Taranis should work!

Lots to check out when I put it on the 680Pro.
