So I picked up a mini hex off Phil as I like the minis but not the tight space common with the 250 quads. First impressions were wow this frame is awesome. Well machined, nice thick arms all went together strait away and with ease on the mock up very impressed.

Now for the spec and build

To start we have 12a blue series escs flashed with simon k and rcx 2400kv motors. This time I';ve tried the wire mesh witch really tidied things up not sure on the blue shrink wrap will probably change it to clear at some point but for now it will do

Then the fun bit placement of electronics naza lite no gps and for fpv we have tbs core pnp50, 600mw vtx and 650tvl camera

Now its just the reciver to place my question to all you out there is this can I use my lost middle beeper to extend my sbus cable as it is just the right length or will it cause no ends of problems

DebianDave

Very nice. I am definitely building a hex in spring

Very tidy that wiring, impressed by how close you got the end of the braid heatshrink to the power dist. Dark blue braid looks wicked too. Interested to see how well the naza performs on the little frame, have wondered how accurate gps position hold can be in the wind on smaller frames.
I reverse polarities for fun.

james111

It dose make it look tidy and really takes its time but worth the effort in the end I will get some more pics up tonyt as I finish it off. I dont own a gps for the naza but I have seen one with one and it holds surprisingly well for such a small frame

james111

So I finished my build tonight just need to balance props then it';s naza set up time. I managed too get all my fpv gear on the top plate so it can be removed in one go so for now a few pics and hopefully the weather will be ok the weekend for some tuning and the all important maiden video

flybywire

Looking forward to seeing it fly james.

Nice little build.

james111

Cheers guys I hope this weather clears off so I can get a flight in the weekend anyone got a say on using the lost model beeper connected to sbus

philtrum

Looking good James, im just building another myself, designed some spacers for the main plates/arms, so the esc can all sit inboard, if they work on the test one, will get them up on the site

Cheers
Phil
Many Thanks

Shendrones 5" (new build)

Happymodel Mantis 85

That sounds good phil I have a idea I want to put through to you. how about either ordering some extra arms they do a bigger one aswell that allows for 6inch props or do you have the means to get some cut as im not overly fond of the little cutout at the end.

thank you im just praying on some decent weather the weekend so I can get out. i dont mind wind but it';s a tad to much at the moment as I don';t have a gps for my naza. probably no fpv just los and let you know how it feels

philtrum

Hi

I';ve got some new arms designed with more motor protection on them, both in 5 and 6 inch prop version
and will get them cut from carbon fibre, also considering a small slot to feed the motor wires through and another couple of small holes for  a cable tie to keep everything need

spacers for the frame were fitted last night and now give me just over 1cm gap between the main plates, which is plenty of room for the wiring, sill get those listed on the site too
Many Thanks
Phil

Thats good news on the arms. I need some bigger battery';s as only have a few 1800 and 2200 3s so im thinking of geating a 4s setup. the choice to go with a 6 inch prop will be a added bonus but that';s for another thread another day just need to get it in the air first

james111

So ive been out for a quick test flight not even one pack befor the rain . she flys but not the best . the naza did ok in attitude but one or two problems. when I yaw right its ok but when I go left and stop it carries on going to the left. not to sure as to a fix but as it was windy and raining I didn';t really get much chance to tune. second problem. I did record it but where it is I don';t know the light was on the gopro and battery full but nouthing on the card I dont know where it';s gone. so sorry guys no video I plan on going out in the week so will try again then.
