Well its been a long time coming..... finally decided to strip down and completely rebuild my 550.

Its done a lot of flying so its time to replace the motors, add retracts, replace the frsky rx to the latest version and change to 4s. And whilst I';m at it I';m going to set it up with my Taranis (which I really like) and update the Naza and the Eagletree kit.

In addition, I';m going to upgrade the gimbal with a three axis system using one of my Alexmos v3 controllers.

Should be fun!

Here are some pics so far....

Initial strip down:

Take out all the electronics:

First surgery the motors now replaced:

More to follow as I make progress!

Cheers,

Going to start my f550 build soon.
Santa is still looking after it for me.  ;D

looking good!  I have to say, biggest step-up I made was to start using T-Motor full carbon props.  They are superbly made, and if you fly 'normally' they will last you yonks.  They are quiet & smooth, and light as a feather.  Surprisingly tough too!

yep, one the best upgrades i did was T-Motors and the T-motor props, performance was far better after adding the T-Motor props, definately recommend those :)

Actually they are carbon/foam sandwich to be pedantic.  Mine have clipped the odd piece of tree and have no chips so far (thank the lord as they cost a fortune!).  :crossfingers:

Lol, did break my heart a bit parting with the money for 4 props, but those pretty little prop covers are just lovely :)
