Hmmm, HTC not really getting the GoPro thing at all.  I';d struggle to mount the RE to any of my multi-rotors.

I kind of like the GoPro, the DYS and the SJ4000 clones ... The format is perfect for mounting onto "things".

i agree, it may good video etc, but not really versatile enough for mounting on Multis, Gopro have set a standard to go by, in mounting and functionality, some come close, but GoPro is still a hard camera to beat overall.

HTC thing looks a bit gynaecological to me.  :evil

I';ve always thought the gopro form factor is really naff , its a brick and needs silly large brackets to attach it to anything. Its biggest selling point is ease of use  , there';s nothing that special about it really , its just the "apple" of the camera world.

What I want is a mobius shape  with gopro quality , long battery life and a simple reliable smartphone wi-fi link to frame the shot.

the technologies been here for years but does any manufacturer have the balls to produce a good product rather than another "specification " buster that sells it self on paper rather than actual functionality?

anywho that';s what I think.

I';ve never purchased a good HTC product to date.  A brand I stay away from

I find that the mobius shape isn';t that good for mounting on gimbals. The brick rules in this instance.
The HTC camera shape is crap. I bet the BBC don';t use them.
Another gripe I have is why don';t all these action cameras support our 25fps TV standard.

I agree about the GoPro having all the elegance of a common house brick, but once you';ve thought about it, and spent time with gimbals, it is the most practical shape.  It';s also the one that gets cloned the most, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery and all that.

I did rather think that the RE had that certain Anne Summers look about it ... I';m at work, so i can';t pop up the picture of what it put in mind!!

Don';t agree on the gimbal , I designed my own as all the ones on the market are a compromise to suit the gopro . Best shape for a gimbal would be a dumpy cylinder or ball, but practically speaking if your not putting it on a gimbal thats not a great shape. Gopro brick  shape makes it very poor for fitting it to anything , its far easier to mount a mobius to a bike helmet/car roof/plane/ etc , they just don';t have the hype the gopro does.

As for the HTC ....epic fail.

Friskle

But not everyone can design a gimbal, for the most part, the gopro is mounting and user friendly, there';s that much out there for it, it';s more plug and play than any other, the majority want a camera with versatile mounts, that they can mount where they like without any hassle, and gopro has provided that.
