Just put a few of these in the house. About £15 each direct face replacement for twin sockets. Twin 5v feed that';s not controlled by the 240v switch. Perfect at the side of the bed for phones etc etc a must ad everything is going this way!

Only downside is it uses electricity all the time in the same way leaving your phone charger plugged in all the time does.

That';s true but the amount they use is barely noticeable.  I remember when I first heard that and I';d go round the house turning off sockets like a man possessed! Then I read a similar article to this:

Yep and like in that article, my highest wattage bulb in the house is 7W, the only thing that gets left on when I';m not in the house or when I';m asleep is my Sky+ box  ;D

Oh yeah and my fridge freezer.

But seriously though I do get your point in the scheme of things it isn';t exactly a big deal.

Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Rooms in New homes definitely need a 12v and or regulated +5v ring circuit aswell as 240VAC ring main :-)
Got one of them usb mains sockets in the cupboard for charging phones.

Do they hum like chargers sometimes do when there';s nothing plugged in?

Not noticed any. Think they are silent.
