switching ubec simple mod

After seeing teslahead';s lovely chokes it made me look again at the ferro ring on the switching ubec from the far east.

unthread the ring from the output lead of the ubec.

Split the black and red wires back to the ubec and remove the red wire from the middle of the 3 pin conector(push red wire to remove tension from the tab, lift little tab and then pull back while lifting tab,in that order)

starting 3cms from the ubec, take the red wire and rewrap till u have 3cms left and reinsert it into the three pin plug centre hole, makeing sure you have the socket the correct way round to engage the lock tab.

you should then have a choke worth having in line.

In the picture you can see the black wire to long. once all back together put a little tension on the plug to gently tighten the wire wraped around the ring cut the black so it can be resoldered a little shorter.

Still not a great choke but better than nothing. would not hurt to add a electrolitic maybe 16+ volt';s and 100uF+ dont go mad stop at around 500uF.

I would say at this point as you have a free teroid get some enammaled wire no less than .8mm and make one like in teslahead';s thread.
