Hi guys,

I think I have a faulty ESC, I have a motor that is just twitching rapidly back and forth.

I know its the ESC as I have tried an alternative motor and signal input. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas if its fixable?

Have you tried that motor on a different esc? If it';s definitely not the motor it could be one of a few things:
A bad soldered joint.
Not flashed correctly
Not calibrated.

My money is on a bad connection between the motor and ESC, if you are using bullet connectors re-solder them all, if you have soldered the motors directly to the ESC you more than likely have a bad joint at the ESC, i';d re-solder them all anyway (including the ESC connections.

If you are 100% certain its not the motor then re-soldering everything (with some flux) should sort it out.

i did manage to break a motor coil wire, that looked very similar in its behaviour, i ended up replacing the motor.

Cheers guys, I have tried an alternative motor and they are directly soldered.

The plot thickens, the underside of the ESC is really hot and it doesnt always stall see here:

when that happened to me last year the problem was length of the ac side supply leads. not an issue here though.

I would check how that controler is programed? timing s the like. as surgested earlier a re-flow may do the job. but a possable timing issue so progamming may be to blam.....

Sorry can';t help more.... :crossfingers:

Might be worth turning it over so that the hot side is up to see if it makes any difference.

What fc are you using, with the kk2.1 board I had to increase the minimum throttle to 20% to get the motor to spin up smoothly and not twitch once armed, if you increase the throttle does the motor spin up or keep twitching?

Well thanks for all the advise but I think its hopeless bin fodder.

I';m running a Naze32 and manually setting the throttle with the GUI. Ive reflowed the whole board which looked quite a mess before I started! After stripping the cover back it appears to be just one of the FETs that gets really hot. Think I';ll have to order some that arn';t $7';s each lol
