So took the quad out for a quick blast tonight just in the back garden...

Did my usual,  plugged it in, in the house.   Calibrated on a flat surface picked it up to move outside...  When I picked it up I felt and smelt something wrong....

The wiring on the led strip had unstuck and folded over under my hand and was making contact +ive and - ive... The blue spark was very hot and burned the skin on my hand.

Nothing serious but enough to nip!

I think a plan b on the leds will be happening!

I';ve learnt a lesson tonight...

Spent all day looking forward to getting out after work - haven';t flown for a week.

Got home and stuffed everything in my pockets and off I went, rather than just cross the road and fly where I normally do, it being such a nice calm night I headed off up the road and walked for about 20 minutes for a change of scenary (pretty warm out).

Got set up, confirmed the fpv camera was working, powered up (all good so far), went to arm and nothing, re-powered up and nothing again - checked the transmitter, power cycled everything and still no joy.

went back to basic';s and noted that I wasn';t getting the a led from the receiver.

(had an audience by now, I looked a bit of a tool)

walked home, hot and sticky, frustrated.

Spent an hour fiddling and the receiver is bricked, replaced with another and finally got it working - too late, missed my window to fly!

lesson learnt - a quick test in the garden beforehand will save me time in the long run and ensure an audience is entertained.
