S500 Unboxing

Well my S500 PCB Arrived from EMAX this afternoon.

In the last pic you can just see the Carbon rod thru the little rectangular peep holes.

interesting whats the carbon rods in the legs for, wiring and to add a little strength? hopefully help stop them from flopping about.

wonder if it helps with twisting too.

Nice. There is something about a well presented product that oozes quality when you see it. 

@nub - The CF rod insert in the rotor arms is supposed to improve rigidity and strength.

@mm - Mine came by DHL, ordered Saturday, attempted delivery yesterday (Tuesday), rebooked for delivery tomorrow (Thursday)

They picked DHL and yep got stung £14 customs (Had 4 pairs of CF 10x5 props as well).

Assembled frame weighs 418 grams

I ordered two of these frames - DHL have not said anything about customs duty!  Weird inconsistencies ..

Yeah I can';t work it out either and both My orders so far from EMAX have had exactly the same charges.

whats the final spec going to be as far as motors etc go?

I am transferring all my electronics from the 450 Firefly (DJI clone) so the motors will be SunnySky 2212 980KV that I simply adore. They are superb!

After the Gimbal and GoPro I may have to up the LiPo to 4S though.  Thus far I have only used 3S for all my quads (even with GoPro).  The Tarot T-2D gimbal may just tip the weight over the edge for 3S I feel - although as a camera ship I don';t need big performance, its more about stability and flight duration.

Higher volts will also help with flight times too.

how about turning this into a build thread doug? i know its prob going to 99% the same as a flame wheel,but its always interesting to watch other peoples progress, from start to rtf quad.

And I now have my delivery from EMax via DHL. Curiously they had the correct shipping address on a slip inside the packing. But the parcel was addressed to my billing address.

Yeah prob will put the ESC';s on it earlier  (HK Blue 30A flashed with SimonK)  and will put the Emax 2213 935 KV motors on it tomorrow and take some more pics.

Haven';t decided between a Naze Full with GPS or a KK2.1HC FC (Leaning towards the Naze to be honest). Got the bits on the way for a Mobius Gimbal (3D Printed) got the BGC Controller ready along with the Mobius and got a Boscam VTX/VRX on the way from HK and one of there cheap Google kits.

I also have a couple of MinimOSD boards as well but haven';t a Clue yet on how to use them But will do some reading on it and get that sorted a little bit down the road.
