I think that I need a brushless gimbal and controller!

Hi Guys, well I took stock of a new SJ4000 camera and mounted it to a servo gimbal that I';ve been using with my 808#16 camera.

Low & Behold, It doesn';t like it!

Although picture jitters around like mad cause of one of the servos, the footage isn';t too bad!

I am very tempted by one of them sj4000s as they`ll fit lovely on a disco..
can you adjust gains or anything on that servo gimbal?..

I think that it';s the servo. I';ll change it at some point and just see how it performs.

I';ve got the Tarot 2D gimbal on the strength of the reviews I';d read about it first. Mostly good comments which was good enough for me. I';ve not set it up and used it yet so can';t review it first hand.

It';s not the cheapest at around £90 all in but not the most expensive either. I believe there are generic models of this gimbal around which should cost less.

I';ve recently got a FY G3 Brushless Gimbal. So much smoother than my previous cheapy servo gimbal. Easy to ';setup';, just plug a battery in :)

I can second the Tarot T-2D - although it may need a bit of work to fit into your air frame.

It worked out of the box but if you do get one you simply must update to the most current version of the firmware - that removes a tendency it sometimes has of jitterring.  With the new firmware it is absolutely rock steady.

Alternatively ... Gimbal controllers can be expensive - but I was put on to this Chinese BGC.1 knock off for £12 which took about 15 days to arrive http://www.ebay.com/itm/BGC-3-1-MOS-Large-Current-2-axis-Brushless-Gimbal-Controller-Driver-alexmos-/281284333524?rd=1

I just got a nice yellow SJ4000,seems OK,but have only flown it once ,and it was in the dive case which I later realised had a protective film which I have since removed as it was causing some internal reflections.

Although heavy, the GLB is a very good entry-level 2axis that works straight out of the box.

Fitted the GLB gimbal to my Disco yesterday and tested it with the SJ4000.

Seems to work OK ,using 4S,needs the camera to be balanced correctly on the gimbal arm to stop it twitching.Just need to adjust the horizon ,then move the gimbal further forward to get the frame out of the way.

I`m not sure what board is on ,I burnt the original and ordered what I think is a direct replacement,guessing its AlexMos?

Just using stock settings,not had chance to figure out pitch control yet.

Yes I think it was.I';ve had it months and only just resurrected it due to a family wedding coming up and im hoping for some decent footage for my nephew.
